IMMIGRATION MADNESS
Top Republican Posts Video of ‘Child Abuse’ at Texas Border Patrol Facility OH GOSH
(Epoch Times) House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) posted video footage of numerous unaccompanied children being housed in a Donna, Texas, Border Patrol facility and said it’s tantamount to “child abuse.”
“I visited the Donna processing facility yesterday. … This is the devastating result of their disastrous left-wing immigration agenda. RT so everyone can see what they’re trying to hide. This is child abuse,” Scalise wrote on Twitter on April 10.
The video showed what appeared to be possibly hundreds of children covered in aluminum-style blankets, packed next to each other in transparent pens. The sound of people talking loudly in the background can be heard.
A day before releasing the video, Scalise, the No. 2 Republican in the House, posted a video of himself talking near a section of the U.S.–Mexico border.
“This is out of control. It’s the middle of the night. We’ve seen dozens of children flow freely across the border in just the past few minutes,” he said in a tweet as dozens of people who appear to be trying to cross the border illegally walk past him.
SC GOV BANS MIGRANT CHILDREN
SC Governor Blocks Biden Administration From Bringing Unaccompanied Children From Border
(Epoch Times) South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster issued an executive order on Monday that prohibits the federal government from bringing unaccompanied children from the U.S.-Mexico border to South Carolina.
McMaster issued the executive order in response to inquiries from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration of Children and Families about if the state had resources to place unaccompanied children in the state’s foster care facilities and group homes.
Michael Leach, the head of the South Carolina Department of Social Services, told McMaster about the federal government’s inquiries about taking children from the border and placing them in South Carolina’s foster care and group homes, according to a letter (pdf) dated on April 8.
“South Carolina’s children must always be given first priority for placement into foster care and the State’s strained resources must be directed to addressing the needs of its children,” McMaster stated.
He added: “Allowing the federal government to place an unlimited number of unaccompanied migrant children into our state’s child welfare system for an unspecified length of time is an unacceptable proposition. We’ve been down this road with the federal government before and the state usually ends up ‘on the hook.’”

Biden Administration Officials Sued by Arizona AG Over Immigration Executive Orders
(Epoch Times) The office of Arizona Attorney General Mark Brnovich is filing a lawsuit against White House and Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials over allegedly harmful immigration orders and is now asking a court to void President Joe Biden’s executive actions to halt the construction of the border wall and reverse the Trump administration’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.
Brnovich is arguing in court (pdf) that those orders have violated the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which requires federal agencies like the DHS to weigh environmental considerations before taking any significant federal action.
The DHS and federal officials didn’t provide environmental impact statements or environmental assessments after the agency stopped construction of the U.S.–Mexico border wall and started permitting entry to illegal immigrants after ending the Migrant Protection Protocols, also known as the Remain in Mexico policy, which were started under the Trump administration, according to Brnovich’s office.
“It’s the pinnacle of hypocrisy for the Biden Administration to claim it wants to protect our environment, while not enforcing federal statutes that are specifically designed for that purpose,” the Republican attorney general said in a statement April 12. “We’re not going to sit idly by as the Biden Administration ignores real harms to our state resulting from its heavy-handed executive orders.”
Biden halted construction of the border wall on his first day in office. Days later, he ordered the DHS to stop the policy.
A COP GOT SHOT
Police: 1 Dead, Officer Wounded in Tennessee School Shooting
(Epoch Times) Police faced gunfire as they responded to reports of a possible gunman at a Tennessee high school Monday, leaving one person dead and an officer wounded, authorities said.
No one else was killed or wounded at Austin-East Magnet High School in Knoxville, a city about 180 miles east of Nashville, police said. A male has been detained. Police said they responded to the school around 3:15 p.m. and when they encountered a male with a gun, shots were fired.
“Upon approach of the subject, shots were fired,” Knoxville Police Department posted on Facebook. “A Knoxville Police officer was struck at least one time and transported to the hospital with injuries that are not expected to be life-threatening.”
Speaking from outside a hospital, Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon told WATE-TV that she spoke with the wounded officer and that he was conscious and in good spirits.
The police post said a male died at the school, which is not far from the city’s zoo and Interstate 40. A map of the neighborhood shows the school is in a residential area near some churches.
Three students from Austin-East Magnet High School have been shot to death away from the campus less than three weeks apart this year, police said. Administrators have said students felt the arts magnet school was a safe space, according to a story in the Knoxville News Sentinel.
State Rep. Sam McKenzie, who represents the district and went to the school, said in a statement, “I am at a loss to describe my sadness as yet another horrific act of gun violence has happened in my community,” urging the community to “reclaim the sanctity of our beloved neighborhood.”
GUN RIGHTS
….Last week, the Republican governor signed legislation that will make Tennessee the latest state to allow most adults 21 and older to carry handguns—openly or concealed—without first clearing a background check and training. Lee backed the legislation over objections from law enforcement groups, who argued that the state’s existing permit system provided an important safeguard for knowing who should or shouldn’t be carrying a gun.
The law, which does not apply to long guns, will take effect July 1. The new measure also increases certain penalties. For example, theft of a firearm—now a misdemeanor that carries a 30-day sentence—will become a felony with a mandatory six month incarceration. It also makes exceptions for people with certain mental illnesses and criminal convictions.
When asked earlier this year whether recent mass shootings in Georgia, Colorado and others gave him any concern about timing, Lee has previously said the increased penalties mean that “we in fact will be strengthening laws that would help prevent gun crimes in the future.”
EVIL BIDEN HUD
Biden Moves to Revive Obama Plan to Federalize Suburban Zoning Regulations
(Epoch Times) Buried in the nearly 18,000-word White House Fact Sheet on President Joe Biden’s proposed $2.3 trillion “American Jobs Plan” infrastructure bill is one paragraph that could turn the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) into a zoning commission for suburban America.
“For decades, exclusionary zoning laws—like minimum lot sizes, mandatory parking requirements, and prohibitions on multifamily housing—have inflated housing and construction costs and locked families out of areas with more opportunities,” the fact sheet claims.
“President Biden is calling on Congress to enact an innovative, new competitive grant program that awards flexible and attractive funding to jurisdictions that take concrete steps to eliminate such needless barriers to producing affordable housing.”
The anti-exclusionary zoning law proposal, the nomination of former Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) as HUD secretary (stuff about her on NBC, Wash Post), and his signing of an executive order on housing discrimination, are key parts of Biden’s fulfilling a 2020 campaign promise to reinstate a controversial Obama administration program known as Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH).
Less than a week after her confirmation by the Senate as HUD secretary, Fudge was asked about reinstating AFFH and, in response, she told White House reporters that the Biden administration is moving forward with such plans.
“We are looking at it. Certainly, we know that fair housing is, in fact, the law of the land, and we want to use every tool that we have. I think that the prior administration did roll back some fair housing tools that we have. So, we’re looking at how we can go back and make those better and get them re-implemented, if possible,” Fudge said.
OBAMA 2012 VS BIDEN 2020:
The Obama AFFH conditioned receipt by local and municipal officials of billions of dollars of federal assistance on their acceptance of a HUD-approved plan to eliminate zoning policies defined as discriminatory.
The Biden AFFH revival goes several steps further by providing specific examples of what it considers discriminatory zoning and creating billions of dollars in new HUD grant programs as incentives for local and municipal officials to submit to federal supervision of their decisions. A former Fudge House colleague, Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio), has just such a proposal for a new HUD grant program.
That approach, according to the Ethics and Public Policy Center senior fellow Stanley Kurtz, is nothing less than a prescription to federalize zoning functions that for centuries have been the prerogative of officials closest to residents of the neighborhoods most directly affected.
“Biden’s plan rips the heart out of local zoning authority. What, if anything, remains when the Biden administration is done won’t matter, because de facto control over the suburbs will have passed to the federal government,” Kurtz told The Epoch Times on April 12.
Kurtz believes the ultimate goal of advocates of the Biden plan is to eliminate single-family suburban neighborhoods entirely and to replace them with densely packed urban high rises. AGENDA 21!
CRT IN WEST POINT
‘Critical Race Theory’ Being Taught at US Army’s West Point, GOP Lawmaker Says
(The Epoch Times) Rep. Michael Waltz (R-Fla.) sent a letter to West Point Superintendent Lt. Gen. Darryl Williams about “information” that recently came to his “attention from unsettled soldiers, cadets, and families that raises serious concerns about the U.S. Army’s introduction of elements of critical race theory into cadet instruction.”
“While we should always eradicate extremism of all forms from our ranks and never tolerate racism, I am alarmed that this doctrine that focuses our future leaders on race in ways that will be detrimental to unit cohesion, destructive to morale, and strain the readiness of our armed forces,” according to the letter.
Waltz told the Washington Examiner that he was able to speak with Williams.
“We had a brief phone call, he assured me they’re looking into it and assured me that I will promptly get a more formal response laying out what’s being taught and why in more detail,” Waltz told the Washington Examiner, adding, “We’re going to continue to press and get to the bottom of it.”
The congressman, in an interview with Fox News’ Tucker Carlson, said that he got evidence of a West Point lecture, titled “Understanding Whiteness and White Rage,” adding that some families who spoke to him were disturbed by the content.
...Waltz, a former U.S. Army Green Beret, added: “You are told the only skin color you should worry about is camouflage. … The enemy’s bullets don’t care about black, white, or brown, or political party or race or religion or any of that. And we shouldn’t care about it either as we are teaching the future leaders of the United States Army.”
Meanwhile, the congressman said that critical race theory-inspired lectures included at West Point pose trouble in a combat situation. Critical race theory is a branch of Marxist critical theory.
“As a Green Beret, I can’t imagine being in a situation in combat where I am ordering a soldier to charge a machine gun and he now has the seed planted in his mind—am I sending him because he is African American? Should I feel guilty because of white privilege?” he asked.
MARYLAND GOES ANTI-COP
Maryland Becomes 1st State to Repeal Police Bill of Rights
(The Epoch Times) Maryland’s Democrat-controlled General Assembly on April 10 voted to override Republican Gov. Larry Hogan’s vetoes of three major police reform measures, which included the repeal of the state’s police bill of rights.
Maryland was the first state in the nation to adopt the Law Enforcement Officers Bill of Rights in 1974. Twenty states have followed suit, but Maryland is the first to revoke its measure. The bill of rights had set out a due process procedure for probing police misconduct.
Supporters of Maryland’s changes say they are needed to increase accountability and restore public trust. One of the measures repeals job protections in the police disciplinary process, which critics said impeded accountability. A newly enacted measure gives civilians a role in the disciplinary process.
Maryland’s General Assembly began work on the legislation enacted April 10 in response to the police-custody death of George Floyd last year.
Democrats said the measures are long overdue, while Republicans argued they went too far.
The new laws increase the civil liability limit on lawsuits involving police to $890,000 from $400,000. Officers convicted of causing serious injury or death through excessive force would face 10 years in prison.
State Sen. Robert Cassilly, a Republican, described the new laws as “anti-cop.”
“It allows for hindsight review of folks sitting in the easy chairs to judge people who made split-second decisions in volatile situations,” when an officer fears for his or her life and the lives of others, Cassilly said.
The news laws make it more difficult to obtain a no-knock warrant and limit the times they can be executed to 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., except for emergencies. One of the measures expands public access to records in police disciplinary cases.
In his veto message, Hogan wrote that he believed the measures would “further erode police morale, community relationships, and public confidence.”
“They will result in great damage to police recruitment and retention, posing significant risks to public safety throughout our state,” Hogan wrote.
The measure is named after Anton Black, a 19-year-old African American who died in police custody in 2018 in a rural town on Maryland’s Eastern Shore.
Maryland has struggled with police accountability problems in recent years. Baltimore’s police department entered into a federal consent decree after Freddie Gray suffered a broken neck while in police custody and died, sparking unrest in the city in 2015. Lawmakers approved some changes the following year, but critics have said they were not enough.
Hogan wrote that two measures would go into effect without his signature.
One of them would create a unit in the attorney general’s office to investigate police-involved deaths and prohibit law enforcement from buying surplus military equipment. The other would enable Baltimore voters to decide whether the state’s largest city should take full control of the police department from the state.
Separately on April 10, the legislature also overrode Hogan’s veto of a bill that would ban sentences of life in prison without the possibility of parole for juveniles.
WHITE LIVES MATTER SHUT DOWN
Cops Shut Down 'White Lives Matter' Rally in Huntington Beach That Turned Violent In 90 Minutes
(Newsweek) BLM agitators showed up to counter-protest and fought with the people whom Newsweek called White Nationalists — who were greatly outnumbered.
Police in Huntington Beach, California shut down an organized so-called "White Lives Matter" rally within 90 minutes on Sunday afternoon after a few attendees violently clashed with counter-protesters.
Black Lives Matter counter-protesters far outnumbered the white nationalists that gathered near Huntington Beach pier for the rally, which started at 1 p.m. local time. After some arrests, cops declared the event an unlawful assembly by 2:30 p.m. and ordered the "unruly crowd" to disperse.
Several violent confrontations occurred between rallygoers and counter-protesters before authorities broke up the event.
In a video shared to YouTube, one man can be seen punching another man in the face in front of a police officer for repeatedly asking him, "Why do you hate me?"
"F*** off you Nazi b****," one bystanders yelled at the violent man as he turned to walk away.
Another man welding a Trump 2020 flag was reportedly involved in a separate scuffle with counter-protesters. Authorities also arrested a few people who were carrying knives and pepper spray.
Police arrested two Black Lives Matter counter-protesters gathered with a group near the pier this morning ahead of the rally. The counter-protesters arrived hours before the "White Lives Matter" rally was scheduled to start.
In a video shared to Twitter, cops can be seen arresting a Black man while being surrounded by an angry crowd of counter-protesters.
User @waterspider__, who shared the footage, claimed that the Black male was "arrested for a 'noise violation.'"
Huntington Beach Police Chief Lt. Brian Smith confirmed that one counter-protester was arrested for use of amplified sound. He also said a second was arrested for attempting to interfere with the first man's arrest.
"The first gentleman was being detained and escorted off for a noise violation when the second gentleman interfered and impeded in the officers' duties. He was detained and taken into custody for that and found to be in possession of a metal baton, a knife and two cans of pepper spray," he said.
A group called the Loyal White Knights of the KKK organized the rally on social media, with an aim to "revive the White Racial Consciousness and to unify White People against white hate," according to messages shared on Telegram.
The Orange County Sheriff's Department assisted city authorities by sending its regional mounted unit to the event. "That's the extent of our involvement at this time," said Carrie Braun, a spokesperson for the department, according to the Los Angeles Times. "We are monitoring open-source information to monitor additional events in our jurisdiction, but at this time we aren't aware of any."
