Smuggling Illegal Aliens Around Border Patrol Is Booming Business for Drivers
(The Epoch Times) Social media platforms, encrypted messaging apps, and Google map pin drops are being utilized to move thousands of illegal aliens around Border Patrol checkpoints and eventually to large U.S. cities.
In Texas, drivers are being recruited on social media—lured by the promise of quick cash—to haul illegal aliens to San Antonio, Houston, Austin, or Dallas. One U.S. citizen-driver told The Epoch Times he was promised $1,000 per person for the seven Guatemalans he was moving from Kinney County to San Antonio.
The Del Rio region of the Texas–Mexico border is largely ranchland, with small communities dotted in between and linked by rural roads.
The driver will have a general idea of the pickup location, and as the illegal aliens get close, the communication will ramp up, according to a senior Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) official — part of ICE.
“There’s a foot guide that’s usually used to bring the noncitizens across the international border,” the official said — RIDICULOUSLY USING THE BIDEN-HARRIS-OBAMA WORD NONCITIZEN.
So far this fiscal year (since Oct. 1, 2020), the San Antonio HSI office has initiated more than 320 criminal investigations related to human smuggling. In fiscal 2020, the office initiated almost 450 smuggling probes.
Smuggling and trafficking are two distinct activities, according to ICE. While smuggling is the transportation of people from one place to another, involving the deliberate evasion of immigration laws, trafficking involves the use of “force, fraud, or coercion” to compel an individual into a commercial sex act or for involuntary servitude or slavery purposes. Child trafficking cases need not prove force, fraud, or coercion.
8 KILLED
One guy led cops on a 50-mile high-speed chase before crashing head-on with another car, killing 8 illegals in his pickup truck; he and his passenger survived. A second vehicle that they stopped near the crash site had 12 illegal aliens. Smuggling generally carries a two year minimum sentence. Most smuggling arrests in South TX and West TX.
RECRUITMENT
“The cartels are now reaching out—because they need more labor—to cities such as Houston, San Antonio, and others, using social media, and promising lots of money,” said Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Steve McCraw.
McCraw showed a recruitment video on TikTok that flashed wads of cash, and the words “Drivers needed!!! DM to make some racks,” with bouncy music reminiscent of the neighborhood ice cream truck playing in the background.
“Mexican cartels have always done a very good job, unfortunately, of seeking and recruiting our children along the Texas–Mexico border to support their cartel operations, smuggling operations,” he said.
Often, juveniles avoid prosecution for smuggling drugs or humans, making them targets for recruitment.
HIGH SPEED CHASES
Uvalde County Sheriff Ruben Nolasco said the majority of drivers he has dealt with are U.S. citizens out of Austin, while many of the vehicles are stolen.
“And they’re young adults—early-20s, to probably possibly mid-30s. And there’s no respect for life or property,” he said. “It’s very dangerous out here now.”
Uvalde is currently plagued by high-speed pursuits, as two of the longest highways intersect in the city. Nolasco estimates there’s an average of two pursuits a day in his county, which has ramped up from about two per week in January, when the border crossings started to spike.
In the region, Texas state troopers have recorded a jump in vehicle pursuits, from seven in January to 50 in April. AMAZING!
U-HAULS
On June 13, a U-Haul truck containing 27 illegal aliens was stopped near a highway checkpoint north of Laredo, according to Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The agency said the cargo area was unventilated and had reached 106 degrees Fahrenheit. The illegal aliens were from Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras, while the driver and passenger were U.S. citizens.
On June 10, 33 illegal aliens were discovered locked inside a U-Haul truck near a McDonalds near Big Bend, Texas—12 were subsequently transported to regional hospitals.
GREG ABBOTT
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued a state disaster declaration on June 1 to push more of the state’s DPS resources into controlling the border and the spillover crime, highlighting 34 highly affected counties.
“I hereby direct DPS to use available resources to enforce all applicable federal and state laws to prevent the criminal activity along the border, including criminal trespassing, smuggling, and human trafficking, and to assist Texas counties in ther efforts to address those criminal activities,” Abbott’s declaration states.
Abbott also launched a website (borderwall.texas.gov) to raise money for the continued construction of a border wall in Texas.
HSI urges anyone with information about a smuggling attempt to call (866) 347-2423.
Texas Governor Demands Biden Return Border Wall Land Seized by Federal Government (The Epoch Times)
“I write now to demand that you immediately return to Texans any land taken by the federal government but not used for building a border wall,” Abbott, a Republican, told to Biden in his letter dated June 16. (Maybe they’ll let the State of TX build the wall on their property.
The governor said that the Trump administration previously used “condemnation powers” to obtain property along the U.S.–Mexico border that was previously owned by Texans.
“Texas stands ready to build the wall in Texas, and we have begun the process of hiring a manager to oversee that project. We will look first at using state property and donated private property,” the governor said.
Abbott said at a news conference on June 16 that he has $250 million to start, and is asking for donations.
Trump announced he would visit the border area alongside Abbott on June 30.
JUNE-BLAH
(TheSkimm) "You are an incredible woman" – Sleepy Biden to Opal Lee – the 94-year-old woman who's been fighting (and marching) to make June-blah-blah a federal holiday for decades. The evil female liars at TheSkimm list some of the trash Democrats and RINOs are pushing regarding imaginary "racism."
(Boston Globe) A Juneteenth holiday is symbolic. Don't confuse it with racial justice.
BTW: Senator Tom Cotton wrote on Facebook June 19, 2020: Juneteenth is a reminder of America's triumph over the evil of slavery, part of a long struggle to live up to our nation’s most noble ideal: that all men are created equal. America is a fundamentally good country, but there’s still work to be done. “His truth is marching on.”...

Mark and Patricia McCloskey Plead Guilty to Charges, Will Surrender Guns — WHAT! (The Epoch Times)
The St. Louis couple who were seen holding firearms as Black Lives Matter (BLM) activists approached their home pleaded guilty to several misdemeanor charges and surrendered their guns.
Mark McCloskey, a lawyer, pleaded guilty to a Class C misdemeanor of fourth-degree assault, while his wife, Patricia McCloskey, pleaded guilty to a Class A misdemeanor of second-degree harassment. They will pay the maximum fines of $2,000 and $750, and they won’t serve any jail time.
More notably, however, the two will be forced to forfeit the weapons they were holding when they confronted BLM protesters who were marching near their home last summer.
On Thursday evening, following the guilty pleas, Mark McCloskey told Newsmax why the couple pleaded the way they did.
“[Prosecutors] dropped all the felony charges, all the gun charges, and charged me with a crime that said I purposely placed other people in apprehension of imminent fear of physical injury—and, by God, I did it,” McCloskey said.
“That’s what the Second Amendment was there for, and I couldn’t say no to that one,” he added. “That’s what the guns were for. The guns were there to scare people off and make sure they didn’t approach us. And that’s what the guns did,” he continued.
The two have claimed in media interviews that the protesters were trespassing and noted that Black Lives Matter protesters in St. Louis and other cities have committed arson and have engaged in acts of violence. The couple previously pleaded not guilty and were slated to go to trial in November of this year.
CONFLICTING CLAIMS?
The BLM protesters told them “that they were going to kill us,” said Patricia McCloskey last year.
“They were going to come in there. They were going to burn down the house,” she said, recalling what the demonstrators said. “They were going to be living in our house after I was dead, and they were pointing to different rooms and said, ‘That’s going to be my bedroom, and that’s going to be the living room, and I’m going to be taking a shower in that room.'”
But Richard Callahan, a local prosecutor, alleged that some of their claims were unfounded.
“There was no evidence that any of [the protesters] had a weapon and no one I interviewed realized they had ventured into a private enclave,” he said in a statement on Thursday.
‘Clearly Unconstitutional’: 2 Justices Issue Dissent in Supreme Court’s Obamacare Ruling (The Epoch Times)
NOTE: Back in 2015, Thomas dissented AGAINST Obamacare, FYI. Maze pretended he thinks it’s constitutional.
The Supreme Court ruled 7–2 that the plaintiffs, 18 Republican-led states, lacked the standing to challenge the federal health care law. The states had wanted the Supreme Court to overturn the law because its “individual mandate” was set to zero by former President Donald Trump, saying that the entire law was unconstitutional.
…. Justice Stephen Breyer wrote the majority opinion. He was joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor, Elena Kagan, John Roberts, Clarence Thomas, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh.
But Alito, in his dissent (pdf), described “today’s decision is the third installment in our epic Affordable Care Act trilogy,” and he added that the decision “follows the same pattern as installments one and two. In all three episodes, with the Affordable Care Act facing a serious threat, the Court has pulled off an improbable rescue.”
“Texas and the other state plaintiffs have standing, and now that the ‘tax’ imposed by the individual mandate is set at $0, the mandate cannot be sustained under the taxing power,” he wrote. “As a result, it is clearly unconstitutional, and to the extent that the provisions of the ACA that burden the States are inextricably linked to the individual mandate, they too are unenforceable.”
The justice added that the Supreme Court was “presented with the daunting problem” of defining the “individual mandate,” which the same court redefined (pdf) in 2012 as a “tax.”
The lower courts mostly sided with the Republican states but agreed to delay enforcement while the appeals process continued. Defenders of Obamacare, which comprised about 20 Democrat-led states and the House of Representatives, also had appealed to the Supreme Court.
… “Instead of defending the constitutionality of the individual mandate,” he added, “the Court simply ducks the issue and holds that none of the Act’s challengers, including the 18 States that think the Act saddles them with huge financial costs, is entitled to sue.”
Thomas, considered among the most conservative justices, wrote in a concurring opinion that the plaintiffs in the case hadn’t shown they were injured by the individual coverage mandate and therefore, wouldn’t give them the standing to file the lawsuit. As a result, according to him, he joined the majority.
