Black Lives Matter Blames Deadly Cuban Protests on US Government, Defends Regime
(The Epoch Times) Black Lives Matter is blaming the U.S. government’s “cruel and inhumane” economic embargo for the current unrest in Cuba, while praising the communist regime for its “solidarity” by granting asylum to “black revolutionaries.”
“Black Lives Matter condemns the U.S. federal government’s inhumane treatment of Cubans and urges it to immediately lift the economic embargo,” the group wrote. “This cruel and inhumane policy, instituted with the explicit intention of destabilizing the country and undermining Cubans’ right to choose their own government, is at the heart of Cuba’s current crisis.”
BLM also praised the communist regime for its “historically demonstrated solidarity with oppressed peoples of African descent” and “protecting black revolutionaries” such as Assata Shakur, also known as JoAnne Chesimard, a former member of the Black Liberation Army who escaped from prison in 1979 while serving life for the execution-style murder of a New Jersey state trooper (BLACK FEMALE COP KILLER); she was granted asylum by Fidel Castro. She remains one of the FBI’s Most Wanted Terrorists.
8 YEARS OF BLM
*BTW: BLM is 8 years old; 2 days ago they posted on Black Lives Matter’s Instagram video: On this day 8 years ago, the spirit of #TrayvonMartin summoned us to build “a movement, not a moment.” Thousands took to the streets to disrupt white supremacy and demand the justice that the criminal legal system refused to give in its acquittal of Trayvon’s killer.
For 8 years now we have demanded an end to oppressive white supremacist systems, protesting in the streets, building people power, ousting corrupt politicians, ushering in meaningful policy, working for justice in the names of our stolen loved ones, forging strong alliances, moving towards abolition, and courageously visioning and building a new world. There is much more to do as we transform this world into one that honors our Ancestors, our legacy of Black freedom struggle, and one fit for our children and future generations. #BLMAnniversary
Also: Black Lives Matter on Instagram 2 days ago: 8 years ago today, the words #BlackLivesMatter were penned and amplified by our beloved co-founders Alicia Garza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi. “Black Lives Matter” served as a rallying cry for the thousands who took to the streets demanding justice in the name of #TrayvonMartin.
#BlackLivesMatter was born out of rage, pain, love, and generations of the generations-long Black freedom struggle.
Over the last 8 years, Black Lives Matter has been built by courageous freedom fighters into the largest racial and social movement in history. Today we see BLM protests, policy change, and the building of radical Black freedom all over the world. We’re 8 years into our collective movement towards Black liberation. And we won’t stop until Black lives don’t just matter—but thrive. #BLMAnniversary
George Floyd Mural Destroyed by Lightning Strike, Witnesses Say; Cause Disputed
(The Epoch Times) Sterling Rahe, a spokesman for Toledo’s Fire and Rescue Department, said the lightning strike theory made sense based on an inspection of the scene.
A city building inspector, Hugh Koogan, disputed the claim that a lightning strike destroyed the mural, which was created amid protests, riots, and violence after Floyd’s officer-involved death in May 2020.
“It was just age. It just came away,” he told the Toledo Blade. “It happens to the older buildings.”
Koogan added that city officials noted that the middle of the wall, where much of the damage occurred, was bowing in recent days. The official dismissed claims that any weather, including lightning or wind, was the cause.
David Ross, who painted the mural, told the Toledo Blade that he believes the mural did not simply collapse, suggesting that vandals may have targeted it. (TYPICAL BLACK!) Ross alleged that he received threats and criticism for painting the picture.
“When I did the mural, there was stuff on the wall that I couldn’t remove and that let me know how strong that structure was,” Ross was quoted by the paper as saying and added that he’ll repaint it despite the cause. “The lightning thing, that’s possible, but I know it didn’t just fall.”
Photos taken at the scene of the mural collapse show what appears to be a black streak in the center of the brickwork, although it’s not clear whether that’s due to age, a lightning strike, or something else.
