PASTOR PER NEW YORK SLIMES
NYT: (danwhitejr) Here it is! NEW YORK TIMES || FIRST PERSON INTERVIEW w/ Lulu Garcia-Navarro // Dan White Jr. was a pastor in New York for nearly 25 years until the stress of trying to mend the chasms within his church led to his physical collapse. Listen here: NYT ARTICLE / PODCAST PAGE: Opinion | A Pastor Ripped Apart by Our Divided Country - The New York Times
Produced by ‘First Person’
America is burned out. Between the stress of the pandemic, growing polarization and declining trust in institutions, many people are near their breaking point. The feeling is particularly acute for those who have traditionally been society’s bridge builders — teachers, health care workers, faith leaders — as they increasingly find themselves in the cross hairs of our divisions.

Dan White Jr. was a pastor in New York for nearly 20 years until the stress of trying to mend the chasms within his church led to his physical collapse. When he went searching for a place to heal and find support, he found few options. So he decided to create his own.
PASTORS PER CHRISTIANITY TODAY
ALSO: (ZaackHunt) If you have a pastor who thinks education is an unnecessary obstacle to ministry, it’s time to find a new church.
QUOTE TWEET: CTmagazine: Some evangelicals think of seminary as an increasingly unnecessary obstacle. An MDiv student at Gordon-Conwell on why that’s misguided:

KILL THE BABIES AND FAMILIES
(TheSkimm) Who’s coming up with a Plan A… Lawmakers. Yesterday, the House voted 228-195 to pass the Right to Contraception Act — legislation that protects access to birth control. Since SCOTUS’s reversal of Roe v. Wade, Dems are scrambling to federally protect rights after Justice Clarence Thomas called on the court to “reconsider” the rulings that protect the right to same-sex marriages and contraception. Now, House Dems are patting themselves on the backs after passing legislation this week to federally protect both of those rights. But next up, the bill goes to the Senate, where it’s unlikely they’ll get 60 votes required to break a likely filibuster.

KILL THE POLICE
(TheSkimm) Where there’s some accountability… Minneapolis. Yesterday, a federal judge sentenced former police officer Thomas Lane (the other white male cop) to two and a half years in prison. Lane was one of four officers involved in the May 2020 death of 46-year-old George Floyd (VERY FAKE NEWS). Now, after (the first white cop) Derek Chauvin was sentenced on criminal charges and for violating Floyd's imaginary civil rights, Lane is also being charged for violating his rights by not providing Floyd medical care. STUPID! Floyd’s “family” called it “insulting” that the sentencing fell short of the more than 5 years prosecutors had asked for. Next up: former officers Tou Thao and J Alexander Kueng are scheduled to be sentenced on civil charges.
DISEASES COMING BACK, THANKS OBAMA
(CNN) QUOTE: “Many of you may be too young to remember polio, but when I was growing up, this disease struck fear in families, including my own. The fact that it is still around decades after the vaccine was created shows you just how relentless it is.” -- Ed Day, a county executive in Rockland, New York, urging people to get vaccinated against polio after a person from the county was diagnosed with the first case of polio identified in the US in nearly a decade. The unvaccinated young adult began experiencing weakness and paralysis about a month ago, health officials said. About 1 in 4 infected people have flu-like symptoms, but as many as 1 in 200 develop more serious symptoms that include numbness in the legs, an infection of the brain or spinal cord, and paralysis, the CDC said. There is no cure for polio, and paralysis caused by the disease is permanent. (IS THAT WHAT FDR HAD?)
JAN 6 PROPAGANDA
CLIP 11 (NBC News YouTube) Watch: Raw Footage Reveals Outtakes Of Trump’s Address The Day After Jan. 6 …
SKIP CLIP? (Wash. Compost) Trump's outtakes from Jan. 7 speech shown by committee …
CLIP 13 (Wash. Compost) Security footage shows Josh Hawley fleeing from Jan. 6 mob: The Jan. 6 select committee on July 21 released security footage of Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) running from riled-up rioters during the Capitol attack. (They accuse him of riling up attackers, per a female Capitol police officer.) …
(TheSkimm) The Jan 6 House committee zeroed in on 187 minutes last night.
And that timeframe refers to…?
The more than three hours on Jan 6, 2021, when then-President Trump was not visible to the public — and while rioters stormed the Capitol. Here’s what things allegedly looked like behind the scenes:
1:10 pm: Trump ends his speech at the Ellipse saying, “we're going to the Capitol.” The committee said that after his speech, Trump engaged in a dispute with security officials over his desire to join supporters at the Capitol. Within 15 minutes of getting off the stage, Trump was allegedly aware that the Capitol was under attack.
1:25-4:03 pm: President Trump ends up staying in his private dining room by the Oval Office, with the TV tuned to Fox News “all afternoon.” During this time, Trump also reportedly called senators to ask them to delay or object to the certification process. According to testimony, Trump’s children Ivanka and Don Jr, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, and Republican leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) pleaded for Trump to help call off the mob. An anonymous witness also said that members of the vice president’s security detail made calls to their families to say goodbye.
1:49 pm: The DC police declared the attack at the Capitol a riot. At this exact moment, Trump tweeted out a link to his speech at the Ellipse.
2:24pm: Trump tweeted that “Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what needed to be done.” Trump’s national security adviser saw the tweet and said he decided to resign. At 2:38, Trump tweeted “stay peaceful” and that law enforcement is “on the side of our country.” At 3:13, he said “remain peaceful.” By this point, Trump had allegedly been aware of violence at the Capitol for about two hours. Don Jr texted Meadows, “he has to condemn this sh*t ASAP.”
4:17 pm: Trump tweeted a video from the Rose Garden, the first public appearance since the attack began. He urged those still there to “go home.” And added: “we love you, you’re very special.”
theSkimm: The Jan 6 committee sought to make the case that Trump’s actions — and inaction — amounted to a “dereliction” of his duty. Next up, they’ll reconvene for more hearings in September.
PS: If you haven’t been tuning into the Jan. 6 hearings, catch up on everything you missed here.
