Hake's Take
No, abortion is not morally permissible. It’s an interesting phrasing of the question. I prefer to say it’s immoral, or not morally right. Because, like slavery back in the day, it’s socially acceptable and “legal” in large swaths of the country. I don’t believe war or terrorism was justified in the fight against slavery, nor is it in the moral opposition to abortion.
Although abortion reminds me of the Holocaust in that I was taught Jews and others were “dehumanized,” I believe civilized means should end it. But yes, pro-abortion people do dehumanize developing human beings, calling them fetuses, and zygotes, etc. What a shame.
However, those who’ve committed abortion, although there should be some lawful and reasonable punishment for it, they should not be plagued with guilt nor shamelessness. Both are wrong.
