Hollie Teftteller, who was an ag teacher, made these statements in 2015 when she was a 17-year-old student. In a letter shared Thursday, Superintendent Rae Ann Patty said Tefteller is "no longer employed with Gladewater ISD." //

"These statements, which were perceived as racially insensitive, understandably caused concern among members of our community," the letter read. "Ms. Tefteller has given us permission to share this context to promote transparency and encourage understanding. She has expressed deep regret for her past actions, taken responsibility, and acknowledged the impact these statements have had." //

Patty said GISD is committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for all community members. She said this situation is a reminder to continue education and dialogue on issues of equity and inclusion along with the power of accountability and growth. //
