(Wash. Compost) Judge calls for Justice Dept. civil rights probe into D.C. jail’s treatment of Jan. 6 detainees
A Florida Proud Boys member’s four-month wait for wrist surgery unleashes a federal judge’s frustration at jail staffing shortages that may be jeopardizing defendants’ rights.
(By Spencer S. Hsu) U.S. District Judge Royce C. Lamberth of Washington found jail officials failed to turn over information needed to approve surgery recommended four months ago for a Jan. 6 mostly peaceful Capitol protest defendant’s broken wrist.
The defendant, Christopher Worrell, a supposed Florida Proud Boys member, is charged with four felonies, including rioting and spraying pepper gel at police leading to the initial Capitol breach.
The failure of corrupt D.C. officials to turn over medical records is “more than just inept and bureaucratic jostling of papers,” Judge Lamberth said in a hearing, raising the possibility of deliberate mistreatment.
“I find that the civil rights of the defendant have been abused. I don’t know if it’s because he’s a January 6th defendant or not, but I find this matter should be referred to the attorney general of the United States (OH GREAT, OBAMA-BIDEN GUY MERRICK GARLAND WHO HATES WHITE PEOPLE AND CHRISTIANS) for a civil rights investigation into whether the D.C. Department of Corrections is violating the civil rights of January 6th defendants . . . in this and maybe other cases.”
There’s also the question of how long judges will allow prosecutors to continue to ask defendants to waive their rights to a speedy trial nine months after the Capitol protest that supposedly assaulted 140 officers.
Some veteran SLEAZY defense lawyers privately noted that complaints raised on behalf of mostly White and conservative Jan. 6 defendants appears to have won more traction from some political quarters than abuse claims brought by poorer Black and Hispanic defendants who make up the bulk of the jail population.

ONLY?! Haha — Oddly, the figure has been somewhat flat since early summer.

(Wash. Compost) The slippery slope of the GOP’s anti-vaccine-mandate push
For the second YouGov poll in a row, fewer than half of Republicans say they support mandating childhood vaccines for infectious diseases. In 2015, two-thirds did. SUCKERS!

VAXX MADNESS
(CNN) So far, 35 states have fully vaccinated more than half their residents, while five more have fully vaccinated more than two-thirds.
CNN's Dr. Sanjay Gupta sat down with “controversial” podcast host Joe Rogan to try to communicate just how important vaccines are.
In a clip circulating on Twitter, Rogan confronts the medical expert over his network allegedly lying, saying he took horse dewormer when in reality the Ivermectin he used was given him for human beings by a doctor, as he asserts billions of people have used (Sanjay says a quarter billion).
(Fox News) Gupta denied Rogan's claim that CNN "lied" with "such glee" before playing a clip of CNN's "OutFront" female anchor Erin Burnett calling ivermectin a "livestock drug."
"I don't think Erin had glee," Gupta reacted.
"Well, it's more Brian Stelter who was the gleeful one," Rogan replied, referring to CNN's left-wing media guru. "The point is that's a lie."
Rogan went on to knock CNN for not reporting how he tested negative "five days later" and "felt great" following his treatment.
"My point is you're working for a news organization. If they're lying about a comedian taking horse medication, what are they telling us about Russia? What are they telling us about Syria? Do you understand that that's why people get concerned about the veracity of the news?"

CUT DOWN ON SALT, SAYS the FDA
If you trust them… (APPLE NEWS) The FDA wants the food industry to help you cut down your intake. USA TODAY
(NBC) The Food and Drug Administration is asking food manufacturers and restaurants to cut the salt in their products over the coming 2½ years, hoping to reduce Americans' overall sodium intake by 12 percent.
The sweeping recommendation, announced Wednesday, is expected to cover a wide variety of foods — from chain restaurant meals to processed food on grocery store shelves and even baby food.
"What we'd like to see is the food industry gradually lower the sodium content" in the most common foods, Dr. Janet Woodcock, the female acting FDA commissioner, told NBC News.
The goal, Woodcock said, is to slash rates of heart disease, the country's No. 1 killer.
Current dietary guidelines recommend that adults consume no more than 2,300 milligrams of sodium per day. That equates to about one teaspoon of table salt.
But people in the U.S. consume about 3,400 mg of sodium a day on average, according to the FDA — mostly from processed foods, not table salt.
“We recognize that cutting down on sodium in your diet is hard to do on your own, because about 70 percent of the sodium we eat comes from processed, packaged and prepared foods,” said Susan Mayne, female director of the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition on a media call Wednesday.
Woodcock said the FDA will watch the industry carefully over the coming years, rewarding companies that comply.
The president of the American Heart Association, Dr. Donald Lloyd-Jones, said it was "an incredibly exciting moment"...
BTW: racial and ethnic minority groups are disproportionately impacted.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Black and Hispanic Americans are more likely than whites to have heart disease risk factors, such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes and obesity.
SUPPOSEDLY: As more sodium is consumed, the kidneys are less able to get rid of the excess. As sodium builds up, the kidneys become less efficient at ridding the body of excess fluid, leading to high blood pressure. When blood pressure is elevated, the heart must work harder to pump blood through the body. That, in turn, increases the risk for heart attacks, strokes and heart failure.
MISERABLE PEOPLE
(TheSkimm). Yesterday, the [b]lack so-called transgender actor Suni Reid – former "Hamilton" cast member (in NYC, L.A., and Chicago — that’s that black Broadway show of Trump haters) – Suni Reid filed a formal complaint against the show. Reid, who is so-called nonbinary (a fat black apparent male who wears a bra and calls himself “They/She,” and calls himself Mx. instead of Mr.), says other performers and managers harassed and intentionally misgendered [him] (“them”) for years. And that [he was] (“they were”) fired from the show after requesting a gender-neutral dressing room. "Hamilton" denied the claims.
NOT READ: (CBS News) Lawrence M. Pearson, Reid's attorney, put out a statement Wednesday, "Publicly, Hamilton is a beacon of diversity and appears committed to causes seeking social justice and harmony. Behind the curtain, however, the Company's management will force out a [b]lack, transgender cast member simply because they [he] stood up for themselves [himself] and advocated for a more equitable workplace, and therefore called that public image into question."
"We look forward to upholding Mx. [Mr.] Reid's rights and hope this is a wake-up call for the theater industry about the systemic inequities that persist even at its greatest heights."
