FAKE CLIMATE HYPE
Feds announce first-ever water shortage in Lake Mead, Colorado River
The ignorant ladies at TheSkimm seemed to imply that Lake Mead is in "Colorado" (but it’s Nevada and Arizona). Yesterday, the federal gov (the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation) declared a water shortage at Lake Mead for the first time ever. Located on the Colorado River, it’s the country’s largest reservoir by volume but has seen a decline for decades. [NO EVIDENCE OF] Climate change but a long-lasting drought have brought down the water level to a record low. The declaration allows officials to cut down the water supply to states like Arizona, Nevada, and California….expected to affect 40 million people. The cuts go into effect in January.
LYING Gov and local officials say the decision is the latest reminder for Americans on the IMAGINED impacts from climate change. NOT MENTIONED: Poor planning and preparation.

Sen. Sanders Says July Was Hottest Month in Earth’s History
Anti-Christian communist Bernie Sanders tweeted on Friday the 13th: "July was the hottest month in recorded history. I will say that again — we just experienced the hottest month EVER in the history of the planet. I do not want future generations to look back on this moment and ask why we did not do all we could to address climate change."
(The Epoch Times) While Sanders’s claim is false, it hasn’t received pushback in the media, which two commentators suggest may partly be the result of a general ignorance about the Earth’s temperature record.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) recently reported that July was “Earth’s hottest on record.”
The temperature records that NOAA used for its analysis extend back ONLY 142 years.
NOAA has itself pointed out that Earth was probably significantly warmer than at the present for much of the past 500 million years (IF YOU BELIEVE THEM).
In 2019, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) claimed that “the world is going to end in 12 years if we don’t address climate change.” More recently, she has attributed climate change to “the trampling of indigenous rights” as well as “the trampling of racial justice.”
As you may have heard: In 2010, Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) expressed concern that overpopulation could cause the island of Guam to capsize.
REACTION TO WEAK, DISHONEST BERNIE
Alex Epstein of EnergyTalkingPoints.com tweeted, “Earth was 25 [degrees Fahrenheit] warmer than today for millions of years! How is this ignorance not a national story? Imagine if Trump said this!”
Geologist Tony Heller of RealClimateScience.com made a video posted on YouTube. Heller pointed out that ice overage at or near the poles has been increasing, even according to NOAA.
Heller claims “fifty-three million years ago, palm trees grew on Antarctica.”
COMMENT ON HEAT (LIVE CHAT)
From Darrell_Wayne on DLive: July was pretty mild where I live, never broke above 100 & we usually have several days around 105. Where was it the hottest month ever?
AFGHAN MADNESS
Pentagon Warns of Worsening Terrorist Threat After Taliban Takes Over Afghanistan
(The Epoch Times) The U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is now evaluating Afghanistan for the “reconstruction of terrorist networks” after the Taliban captured Kabul and declared victory over the weekend, said a spokesman.
Before the Taliban was toppled in the early 2000s by U.S. forces, the group was accused of harboring terrorist organizations including al-Qaeda and, later, the Haqqani network.
“It’s way too early to make assessments and judgments about what the terrorism threat is going to be in Afghanistan going forward,” Pentagon press secretary John Kirby told reporters on Monday. “The secretary certainly believes that, in light of recent events, that a reassessment of the possibilities for reconstitution of terrorist networks inside Afghanistan is warranted.”

AFGHAN MADNESS CONTINUED
US Troops were Shot At, and Returned Fire at the Kabul Airport and Killed two ‘Armed Individuals’: according to the Pentagon
(The Epoch Times) The two were killed in separate incidents. Thousands of people surrounded the airport, apparently trying to flee Afghanistan. About 2,500 American troops were still at the airport, Kirby said.
There are “preliminary indications” that one U.S. soldier may have been wounded.
The United States will now focus on securing the Kabul airport, deputy national security adviser Jon Finer told reporters on Aug. 16, adding that additional U.S. troops were being sent to the airport.
Images and videos uploaded online showed Afghan citizens attempting to cling to U.S. military planes that were performing evacuations. At least two fell hundreds of feet from the military planes to their deaths (PRESUMABLY), the footage showed. CRAZY. YOU CAN’T HOLD ONTO A FLYING PLANE FROM THE OUTSIDE, PEOPLE! ...PSA!
There were unconfirmed reports citing U.S. military officials that stated at least seven people died amid the Kabul airport chaos.
AIRPORT USE DISRUPTED!
As of Aug. 16, U.S. forces were working with Turkish and other international troops to clear the Kabul airport to allow international evacuation flights to continue, Kirby told reporters. He said that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin authorized the deployment of another battalion to the airport.
NOT READ: (TheSkimm) Even during the fall of Saigon, US helicopters landed every 10 minutes and evacuated over 7,000 people in less than a day.
One Shafi Arifi, who had a ticket to travel to Uzbekistan on Aug. 15, was unable to board his plane because it was packed with people who had raced across the tarmac and climbed aboard, with no police or airport staff in sight.
“There was no room for us to stand,” he told The Associated Press. “Children were crying, women were shouting, young and old men were so angry and upset, no one could hear each other. There was no oxygen to breathe.”
Biden Defends Clumsy, Chaotic Withdrawal From Afghanistan
(The Epoch Times) Biden doubled down on his withdrawal plan at a White House press conference on Aug. 16. He spoke for less than 20 minutes and didn’t take questions from reporters, delivering instead a similar message to what he’s said since taking office in January.
“How many more generations of America’s daughters and sons would you have me send to fight Afghanistan’s civil war when Afghan troops will not? How many more lives, American lives, is it worth?” Biden said. “I’m clear on my answer: I will not repeat the mistakes we’ve made in the past—the mistake of staying and fighting indefinitely.” COMPLETELY MISSING THE POINT. DISHONEST!
Trump planned to have American troops out by May 1st, but Sleepy Biden extended the deadline four months to September 11th (the 20th anniversary of 9/11).
Biden did concede that the U.S.-backed government in Afghanistan has collapsed more quickly than expected, backtracking on statements he made last month about having “trust” in the Afghan military. Even though the Afghan military outnumbered Taliban fighters roughly 300,000 to 75,000, the Taliban has stunned most national security experts with the speed with which it’s reconquering the country.
Biden attributed the Taliban’s quick takeover to a lack of fighting spirit among Afghan government forces.
NOT READ: “We trained and equipped an Afghan military force of some 300,000 strong, incredibly well-equipped—a force larger in size than many of our NATO allies,” he said. “We gave them every chance to determine their own future. We could not provide them with the will to fight for that future.”
NOT READ: TRUMP ON BIDEN
Our real President Donald J. Trump stated on Saturday (Aug. 14) that the Taliban “no longer has fear or respect for America.”
(Fox News) Trump also stated: "It is time for Joe Biden to resign in disgrace for what he has allowed to happen to Afghanistan, along with the tremendous surge in COVID [THE CHINA VIRUS], the Border catastrophe, the destruction of energy independence, and our crippled economy."
Back in April, Trump stated: "I made early withdraw possible by already pulling much of our billions of dollars of equipment out and, more importantly, reducing our military presence to less than 2,000 troops from the 16,000 level that was there (likewise in Iraq, and zero troops in Syria except for the area where we KEPT THE OIL)," he said in an email to supporters.
NOT READ: US Military Bases to House Thousands of Afghan Refugees in Coming Days
(The Epoch Times) The United States is preparing to accommodate thousands of Afghan refugees in the coming days on American military installations while evacuating Americans from the country now controlled by the Taliban terrorist group.
“We want to have the capacity to get up to several thousand immediately, and want to be prepared for the potential of tens of thousands,” Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby told Fox News on Sunday. “[Forts] Bliss and McCoy have the capability right now—and what’s advantageous is with a little bit of work, they could increase their capacity in very short order.”
Fort Bliss is a military base in El Paso, Texas, and Fort McCoy is in Wisconsin.
Kirby also implied that American citizens would not always be prioritized over Afghan Special Immigrant Visas (SIV) applicants.
“Once we get more airlift out of Kabul, we’re going to put as many people on those planes as we can. There will be a mix, not just American citizens, but perhaps some Afghan SIV applicants as well,” Kirby said. “It’s not going to be just Americans first, then SIV applicants. We’re going to focus on getting as many folks out as we can.”
Lieutenant Colonel Chris Mitchell, a spokesperson from the Defense Department, told The Epoch Times that Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin approved two requests for assistance from the State Department on Sunday to transport and temporarily house Afghan SIV applicants, their families, and other individuals at risk.
“Under the first request, the Department will provide temporary housing, sustainment, and support inside the United States for up to 22,000 Afghan SIV applicants, their families and other at-risk individuals. The US Northern Command will coordinate details with the State Department, the Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Health and Human Services, as necessary. This support will be provided under Presidential Drawdown Authority to the maximum extent possible, with additional support being provided on a reimbursable basis,” Mitchell said via email.
“Under the second request, the Department will provide protection, air transportation, and processing of up to 30,000 at-risk individuals from Kabul. This total includes embassy personnel, US citizens, Afghan SIV applicants, and other at-risk individuals,” Mitchell continued.
Mitchell said 8,000 of those would be transported to a third country for processing, with an additional 22,000 being transported to the United States. The Department of State will be responsible for onward travel for all transported individuals.
The Department of State didn’t immediately respond to a request from The Epoch Times for comment.
In a joint statement issued Sunday, the two departments asserted they would work together to evacuate Americans and Afghan refugees to the United States in the coming days.
“And we will accelerate the evacuation of thousands of Afghans eligible for U.S. Special Immigrant Visas, nearly 2,000 of whom have already arrived in the United States over the past two weeks. For all categories, Afghans who have cleared security screening will continue to be transferred directly to the United States. And we will find additional locations for those yet to be screened,” the statement reads.
