Israel-Hamas drama
(CNN & theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) The humanitarian crisis in Gaza has gotten worse — “complete catastrophe,” mama aid workers say.
It’s been over one week since Hamas’s deadly terror attacks, October 7, allegedly killing 1,400 people in Israel. Since then, Israel has warned more than 1 million Gazan residents to flee south as it prepares to potentially escalate its attack on Hamas in the north. The evil UN warned that mass evacuation was not possible without “devastating humanitarian consequences.” Israel extended their deadline — having yet to begin a “potential”(??) ground invasion.
On Sunday, Biden warned Israel against occupying Gaza in one of his most notable public calls for restraint, calling the potential move a “big mistake.” Supposedly, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has invited Biden to visit Israel soon. He might.
Half a million residents have left the northern part of the region…
Many have stayed back, afraid to leave their homes given reports of violence and airstrikes on the few roads south: last week, Hamas claimed Israeli strikes killed 70 and injured 200 as they fled south. Some are also concerned that leaving home could lead to permanent displacement — like in 1948. Meanwhile, Hamas told residents to stay, dismissing Israel’s warnings as “psychological war.” Now, medics in Gaza are reportedly warning that thousands of patients in hospitals could die with the shortage of fuel and supplies. Doctors and “journalists” still working through near-continuous airstrikes — which supposedly killed more than 2,600 people since last Saturday — reportedly including at least 700 “children” (under 18 anyway).
Over the past week, Israel cut off access to fuel, food, and water. Yesterday, in apparent response to pressure from the Biden administration, Israel has reopened access to water in southern Gaza. But the country has continued a siege on fuel and electricity. Meanwhile, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the Rafah border crossing between Egypt and Gaza will open for those with foreign passports. The goal is to allow humanitarian aid that's been sitting around to get in and to give some the option to leave. Still, it's not clear how long Rafah will be open for and if people will be allowed to return.
While Egypt has supported humanitarian aid into Gaza through Rafah, the country reportedly won’t agree to take in Gazan refugees. (BASED.) Egypt worries Hamas militants could join civilians — posing security risks. Egyptian officials also fear an exodus (GET IT?) of Palestinians could overwhelm the country (YUP), which is reportedly already “home” to 9 million “refugees.” (If they’re refugees, they’re not “home.”) Despite being a mediator between Israel and the Palestinians, Egypt has long wanted both sides to resolve the conflict within their own borders.
The death toll in Gaza in eight days has surpassed the 2014 Gaza War lasting 50 days… expected to climb as Israel prepares for a potential ground invasion.

"HaTe CriMeS"
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) Mourning 6yo Wadea Al-Fayoume. Over the weekend, an Illinois landlord Joseph Czuba allegedly fatally stabbed a 6-year-old boy because of his Islamic faith and the Israel-Hamas War. The little boy was stabbed 26 times. The 71-year-old male also seriously injured the boy’s mother after stabbing her more than a dozen times. She remains at a hospital in serious condition and is expected to survive. Their family reportedly identified them as Palestinian American. Authorities charged the man with murder, hate crime, and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. A Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization called it “our worst nightmare.” The DOJ launched a federal hate crimes investigation. President Biden said he was “shocked and sickened” by the killing of the boy and added that “this horrific act of hate has no place in America.”
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) A Chicago-area landlord Joseph Czuba has been charged with hate crimes after fatally stabbing a 6-year-old Palestinian boy and wounding his mom, allegedly because they were Muslim. The US Justice Department has opened a federal hate crime investigation into the attack. The Will County, Illinois, Sheriff’s Office said the victims were targeted by the 71-year-old suspect due to their faith and “the on-going Middle Eastern conflict involving Hamas and the Israelis.” President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden said they were “shocked and sickened” by the attack and offered their condolences to the family in a statement released by the White House.
This comes amid an uptick over the past week in rhetoric targeting “Jewish people as well as Muslim institutions,” FBI Director Christopher Wray said Sunday.

Even India turning debased!
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) India, the world’s largest democracy and most populous country, does not recognize so-called “same-sex marriage,” effectively barring millions of so-called “LGBTQ” “couples” from certain legal benefits and insurance (all about the money!). However, things may change soon as India’s “Supreme Court” is expected to rule on a consequential case that could dismantle the country’s “marriage ban” and reimagine some of its conservative societal rules.
The case has been live-streamed to the public, watched by (ONLY??!) tens of thousands of people each day; since April, India’s Supremely failing Court’s been hearing submissions from activists against the law — 18 petitioners including a pair of “lesbians.”
Hindu mythology dating back centuries features men transforming into women and holy texts feature third gender characters (WEIRD). But that perverted intercourse was a criminal act (10 years in prison) and “marriage rights” (no such thing) limited to normal couples under a penal code introduced by India’s British former colonial leaders in 1860.
Since then, India’s LGBTQ “community” – likely one of the world’s largest given its population of 1.4 billion people – has faced widespread “marginalization” from society.
It’s over 75 years since India gained independence in 1947 (and years since the former “colonizer” England and Wales legalized same-sex intercourse in 1967 and so-called same-sex marriage in 2013).
During nearly a decade in power, Indian leader Narendra Modi and his ruling BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) have been keen to shake off India’s colonial HERITAGE (anti-white CNN calls it baggage), renaming streets and cities and championing an India in charge of its own destiny. But Victorian laws governing so-called same-sex marriage are one throwback to the colonial past his party has fought to retain.
Good for him. Sick young people breaking the law!
But there’s a filmmaker, a celebrity chef, a bunch of young dumb people, a radical activist group that tracks politicians’ views, and sob stories about “oppression” and “seclusion” — “discrimination” in rural areas where the people have more sense, but meddling mamas want to impose evil on them.
House speaker
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) The divided House of Representatives is now in its 13th day operating without a speaker. The latest candidate, Republican Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, will apparently try to force a floor vote on Tuesday, despite lacking the support needed to win the gavel. One GOP source said Jordan may decide to go to multiple ballots on the floor if necessary. Jordan initially ran against House Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana, who went on to become the GOP speaker nominee — but the Louisiana Republican dropped out of the race abruptly last week after facing a bloc of hardened opposition.
Another Afghanistan quake
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) A powerful 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan on Sunday, just days after another deadly quake devastated its western Herat province. With the region already reeling from recent seismic activity, global aid groups and rescue teams say the country is now facing an escalating humanitarian crisis, on top of war and a collapsed economy. Taliban government officials estimate that more than 2,000 people across Herat province have been killed; more than 90% of those were women and children, according to UN agencies and officials on the ground.
Bedbugs in Europe!
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) Bedbug paranoia is growing in Europe, leaving many locals and travelers anxious about encountering the unwanted critters. Paris has reported a “widespread” rise in bedbugs this fall, including sightings on public transit. Concerns have also spread to other cities and countries, including London and the Netherlands. As for precautionary measures, experts say travelers should inspect their rooms before unpacking, including a cursory bed check. This means pulling back sheets and blankets from the mattress and inspecting the seams of the mattress, particularly at the head area. Experts also recommend not placing your suitcase on the floor in a corner of a room, as this increases the chance of bringing bedbugs home with you.
Suzanne Somers died at 76!
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) RIP Suzanne Somers, the actress best known for her role as Chrissy Snow on the hit ’70s sitcom “Three’s Company,” died Sunday, her longtime publicist told CNN. She was 76. Following her exit from the show in 1981, Somers went on to become an author, talk show host and wellness entrepreneur.
Another train derailment, deadly!
(CNN or theSkimm Mon. 10/16/23) 10 freight train cars derailed off a bridge in Colorado on Sunday, killing one person and blanketing a portion of I-25 with coal. Photos of the scene show mangled train cars toppled across the highway and mounds of coal on the ground.
