Mon 3-11-24 Hr 1  New-new BQ! Female Monday call: Haven't forgiven mother

Old BQ: Do you know God? Who is God? Nobody knows God — if you think about God, it’s a lie. It’s impossible to think about God. …  //  NOTE: We changed the Biblical Q on Monday (since Jesse answered it Sunday by telling where he got it). New-new Biblical Question: Can you see the contradiction between the way you think and the way you are?  //  Daylight Saving Time — strokes!  //

Sarah in FL (1st-timer) has a long, interesting call to JLP… Why haven’t you forgiven your mother… ?  //

Female Monday… Christina in CA (1st-timer) …  //  More callers including Josh in GA on the BQ: Can you see the contradiction between the way you think and the way you are?  //

Kyle in CA (1st-timer) is black, and doesn’t see smash and grab, etc., happening on a daily basis. “Maxine Waters is not significant. … Is lying a sin?” Depends on what you’re lying about! What’s wrong with the blacks? Why are they so violent? Why are they doing the snatch and grabs? He watches news morning and night, doesn’t see anything about blacks attacking whites. News clip: Missouri schoolgirl beating. He justifies a black gal attacking white ladies for “white privilege” after she cusses at a shop in front of her child. JLP: Become individuals.  //

*Daylight Saving Time in USA

Daylight saving time in the United States - Wikipedia:  Exceptions include Arizona (except for the Navajo, who do observe daylight saving time in the Navajo Nation),[1] Hawaii,[2] and the territories of American Samoa, Guam, the Northern Mariana Islands, Puerto Rico, and the United States Virgin Islands. The Uniform Time Act of 1966 established the system of uniform daylight saving time throughout the US.[1]

In the U.S., daylight saving time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November, with the time changes taking place at 2:00 a.m. local time. With a mnemonic word play referring to seasons, clocks "spring forward, fall back"—that is, in springtime the clocks are moved forward from 2:00 a.m. to 3:00 a.m. and in fall they are moved back from 2:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. Daylight saving time lasts for a total of 34 weeks (238 days) every year, about 65% of the entire year.

JOKINGLY, Benjamin Franklin proposed a form of daylight time in 1784. It was pushed by COMMUNIST types like Woodrow Wilson (socialistic per Bill Lockwood), and FDR, and even LBJ …

*Israel-Palestine War Drama

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) Eyes on Rafah, Gaza

This week marks the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. It also marks the deadline that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu gave Hamas to release all the remaining hostages still held in Gaza or face a ground invasion of Rafah. About 1.5 million Palestinians are seeking refuge in the southern city. That's as Gaza is on the brink of famine and there are reports of children dying from starvation. For weeks, world leaders have tried to negotiate a cease-fire and hostage exchange in order to stave off the ground invasion. Without a deal in place, Israel said it plans to move forward with its offensive in Rafah but didn't provide a timeline.

In an interview over the weekend, President Biden said an Israeli offensive into Rafah is a “red line” and that Netanyahu’s “hurting Israel more than helping Israel.” Still, the president reiterated his support, saying the US wouldn’t cut off its supply of weapons to the Israeli military. In response, Netanyahu said the president's comments about hurting Israel were “wrong.” He said an invasion of Rafah is necessary to defend Israel's national security and eliminate Hamas. Meanwhile, Egypt is trying to restart another round of cease-fire and hostage negotiations in efforts to get to a truce — something that hasn’t been seen since November.

A ground offensive in Rafah threatens to worsen the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and could mark a political test for the US. It comes as the Gaza Health Ministry says the Israel-Hamas war has killed more than 31,000 Palestinians, and as countless families wait for the release of loved ones taken hostage by Hamas on Oct 7.

CNN: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he will push ahead with a military offensive in Rafah despite President Joe Biden’s warning that doing so would be a “red line.” Around 1.5 million displaced Palestinians are sheltering in the southern Gaza city and the vast majority are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger. The United Nations aid chief has also warned that a ground invasion into Rafah could lead to “a slaughter.” Netanyahu is still standing firm on sending his military into the region, though he did not provide specifics on a timeline. The Biden administration is not anticipating that Israeli forces will imminently expand their military operations into Rafah, as the holy month of Ramadan begins today for most Muslims.

**Pope on Ukraine

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) BASED Pope Francis attracted heavy criticism over the weekend for saying Ukraine should have the “courage of the white flag” and negotiate to end the war with Russia. His comments released in an interview on Saturday brought a swift response from Kyiv, which has seen tens of thousands killed and is seeking to recapture territory seized by Russia. “Our flag is a yellow and blue one. This is the flag by which we live, die, and prevail. We shall never raise any other flags,” Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said in response. The director of the Holy See Press Office later clarified the pope’s comments, saying “the Pope picked up the image of the white flag, proposed by the interviewer, to indicate a cessation of hostilities, a truce reached with the courage of negotiation,” — not surrender as some may have interpreted.

**Pro-illegal Joe

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) President Biden backtracked on comments about the alleged killer of an Augusta University nursing student, saying over the weekend that he should have used the term “undocumented” instead of “illegal” when describing the man in last week’s State of the Union address. Laken Riley was killed on the University of Georgia campus in February, and her death has become a focal point of immigration politics.

Former President Donald Trump has repeatedly invoked Riley’s death during pushes for hardline immigration proposals, including a mass deportation of undocumented immigrants. Last week, the House also passed the Laken Riley Act, which requires the detention of any migrant who committed burglary or theft, with all GOP members in attendance and 37 Democrats supporting the bill.

**Katie Britt invasion

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) Sticking to the phony script… Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL). Yesterday, she responded to criticism surrounding her GOP rebuttal to President Biden’s State of the Union address. In a speech delivered from her kitchen table, Britt shared a Mexican woman’s human trafficking story while speaking about the Biden admin’s handling of the border crisis. Critics said that Britt's storytelling was allegedly misleading, given that the trafficking she described took place in Mexico in the mid 2000s. Now, Britt says she didn’t mean to suggest it happened during the Biden presidency. It’s not the only aspect of her speech that garnered criticism and inspired an SNL spoof

2024 Election

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) President Biden and former President Donald Trump kicked off the rematch of their 2020 contest in Georgia with competing Saturday rallies in the key swing state. The two candidates used their appearances ahead of Tuesday’s primaries to call out electoral opponents and mobilize voters. Speaking in Atlanta, Biden slammed Trump [NOT READ] over “who he keeps company with” before describing him as an existential threat to the republic.

In the northwest Georgia city of Rome, Trump — [NOT READ] now the presumptive GOP nominee after former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley exited the race last week — conjured an apocalyptic vision of a nation under siege from invading migrants and economic blight. Analysts say Georgia will be a closely watched battleground after Biden won the state by less than 12,000 votes four years ago.

*Boeing vs DOJ

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) Who’s still not flying under the radar…Boeing. Over the weekend, news outlets reported the Justice Department opened a criminal investigation into the door plug that blew out during an Alaska Airlines flight in January. The DOJ’s looking to see if Boeing violated a 2021 settlement agreement that required the company to report evidence of fraud involving Boeing staff. Now, Boeing could face prosecution for defrauding the US. Alaska Airlines said they’re cooperating with the probe.

*Another flight mishap

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) 50 passengers on board a LATAM Airlines plane were injured after a flight from Australia to New Zealand experienced a “technical event” that produced a sudden movement. Witnesses said many passengers were thrown around the cabin at the time of the drop. The airline did not elaborate on what the technical event was but confirmed the plane landed in Auckland as scheduled.

*Remember when “spring break” was Easter Vacation?

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) QUOTE: “We’re breaking up with spring break.” — Miami Beach Police Chief Wayne Jones, reiterating that Miami authorities are cracking down on raucous spring breakers due to escalating violence. The City of Miami Beach recently unveiled a breakup campaign that includes hefty fines, curfews, bag checks, restricted beach access, DUI checkpoints, $100 parking fees and nonresident towing rates of more than $500.

*Oscars crap

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 3-11-24) What took over the Oscars… Barbenheimer.” Last night, Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” took home seven Oscars, including best picture and acting wins for Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. As for “Barbie,” Ryan Gosling and Slash reminded everyone they are Kenough, bringing down the Mojo Dojo Casa House. Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O’Connell took home a W for “Barbie.” Other winners of the night included Da’Vine Joy Randolph for her supporting role in “The Holdovers.” Emma Stone won her second Oscar, earning best actress for “Poor Things” and navigating a broken dress moment. John Cena was clearly the best dressed of the night, appearing to be wearing only an envelope and Birkenstocks. Meanwhile, Jimmy Kimmel fired back at former President Trump’s criticism of his hosting gig. That wasn't the only political moment of the night as celebrities, like Ramy Youssef and Eilish, wore pins calling for a cease-fire in Gaza.

CNN: The 96th Academy Awards delivered both pomp and politics during Sunday night’s ceremony. Christopher Nolan’s nuclear thriller “Oppenheimer” dominated the night, sweeping several major awards including Oscars for best picture and best director. Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. scored statues for best actor and best supporting actor, respectively, for their work in the film. Meanwhile, Emma Stone won best actress for her starring role in “Poor Things,” which earned three additional awards. Box office powerhouse “Barbie” made its presence known with Ryan Gosling’s all-out performance of “I’m Just Ken,” along with an Oscar win for best original song. Many stars in attendance used their platforms to call for global peace, while others wore red pins to symbolize their support for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.
