Brazil floods! // Tornadoes in US in May! // Bibi vs Biden on Gaza bombs // “Stormy Daniels” continued smearing Trump in court // App failed and diabetics got injured with insulin pump failure //
Brazil rain!
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Relentless rainfall in Brazil has submerged entire neighborhoods and an airport runway, with more floods likely in the coming days. The severe weather has also downed most communications as crews search for more than 100 missing people.
Storm!
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) 300 tornadoes reported in the US over the last two weeks. April and May are typically the busiest months for tornadoes in the country, but meteorologists say the pace this month has been extraordinary.
Who’s worse: Biden or Israel or Hamas?
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said President Joe Biden made a mistake after the US paused sending a shipment of bombs to Israel so that they would not be used in an invasion of the southern Gaza city of Rafah. Israel would fight with its “fingernails” if necessary, Netanyahu said in response. The Israeli military added it has the weapons it needs for its missions in Gaza, including a Rafah invasion. But a halt in US weapons may “significantly impair” Israel’s ability to “achieve military objectives.” Meanwhile, new satellite imagery shows Palestinians have begun to flee Rafah’s tent cities in large numbers over the past 72 hours as the threat of a potential major Israeli assault looms.
Dirty video woman in dirty court
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) The testimony of adult film actress Dirty Video woman Stormy Daniels Stephanie A. “Gregory” “Clifford,” a central figure in the so-called criminal case against former President Donald Trump, wrapped on Thursday after Trump’s lawyers continued their RIGHTFUL attack on her credibility (really lack thereof). Daniels Stephanie pushed back on claims she was untruthful about her alleged s**ual encounter with Trump in 2006, saying that the story was true, even as she was confronted with inconsistencies in some of the small details of her account. Trump has denied the affair (SO HAS SHE — IN A SIGNED STATEMENT, I BELIEVE).
At the end of the day, Far-Left Liberal “Judge” Juan Merchan denied two defense motions, one for a mistrial based on the argument that Daniels’ changed her story about the alleged encounter, and one seeking a modification on a gag order so the former president could talk publicly about this gal Daniels.
TECH FAILURE
BTW: (CNN yesterday Thu 5-9-24) 224 diabetics (“people with diabetes”) were injured when their insulin pumps shut down unexpectedly due to a problem with a connected mobile app, the FDA said Wednesday.

Justin and Hailey Bieber are expecting their first child together
theSkimm: Who’s giving us a new nepo baby… Hailey Bieber.
I wonder if Canadian singer man said, “We’re pregnant.”...? (The ladies at theSkimm ONLY giving credit to Hailey!)
(CNN & theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) “Baby, baby, baby, oh!” The couple announced the exciting news on Instagram, both sharing this video that showcases Hailey Bieber’s belly. GROSS, WHY THEY ALWAYS HAVE TO SHOW PREGNANT WOMEN’S PREGNANT BELLIES? UGH… They’re “Christians,” I believe.
Conservative Trump supporter actor Stephen Baldwin (youngest of Baldwin bros: Alec, Daniel, William, and Stephen) — Stephen is Hailey’s dad (one of the first Hollywood celebrities to endorse Trump for 2016, per Wikipedia). Hailey Bieber is Alec Baldwin’s niece.
Oprah Winfrey: I set an unrealistic standard for dieting
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Winfrey (better known as OPRAH) said on Thursday that she has long played a role in promoting unhealthy and unrealistic diets.
She was speaking at WeightWatchers along with other celebrity females (Rebel Wilson, Amber Riley, WeightWatchers CEO Sima Sistani, along with doctors and “experts”); they highlighted a shift away from diet culture for WeightWatchers and toward body acceptance and medical intervention with drugs like Ozempic. (WeightWatchers now acknowledges [or now claims] that weight loss isn’t strictly a matter of willpower and that “diet culture” [whatever that is] and “body shaming” [liberal buzzword] isn’t healthy. [From one bad thing to another, perhaps worse.])
Oprah told People Magazine in December that she has added a “weight-loss medication to her regimen” but didn’t specify which drug.
Lab-grown meat? Ugh… Lord, have mercy.
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) What’s ruffling people’s feathers… Lab-grown meat. Alabama is following in Florida's footsteps and has become the second state in the country to ban the sale, distribution, and manufacturing of cultivated meat.
NOT READ: In recent years, companies have been experimenting with different ways to grow meat in a lab, offering a cruelty-free and possibly climate-friendly alternative. Last year, the Department of Agriculture cleared lab-grown meat for sale in the US, but it is still far from being available in grocery stores. Lawmakers who support the bans say they want to protect the future of farms and ranchers in America. However, supporters of lab-grown meat say people should be given the right to choose whether or not they want to buy the product. Other states like Arizona and Tennessee are considering similar bans.

Baron Trump is a FL Trump delegate!

Immigration / Invasion
(mentioned yesterday from CNN, now theSkimm)
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Where the rules could be changing… The US-Mexico border. Yesterday, the Biden administration announced a new rule aimed at streamlining the asylum process along the southern border. The move by the Department of Homeland Security would allow immigration officials to more quickly reject asylum seekers who are suspected of committing serious crimes, having links to terrorism, or posing any other danger. Currently, an immigration judge decides these types of asylum cases, but that can take years. The new rule could expedite the process so it only takes days. The change still has to go through a public comment period before it can go into effect. The measure comes as immigration has become a sore point for President Biden ahead of the November election.
Importing dogs — new restrictions!
(also mentioned yesterday from CNN, now theSkimm)
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Wh[o] has a message for dog parents… The CDC. This week, the agency announced tighter restrictions for anyone looking to bring a dog into the US, in an effort to help prevent the spread of rabies. For anyone who falls in love with a dog while vacationing, the pup must appear healthy, be at least six months old, have a microchip, and a valid rabies vaccine. The CDC also wants to know where the dog has been for six months before coming to the US. Otherwise, the dog could be quarantined for 28 days. These rules also apply to anyone who decides to travel abroad with their dog.
Airplane safety
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) The Senate on Thursday passed a Federal Aviation Administration reauthorization bill ahead of a key deadline today. The bill would renew authority for the FAA for the next five years and allocate billions of dollars to improve aviation safety, enhance protections for passengers and workers and invest in airport and air travel infrastructure nationwide. Among a wide range of provisions, the legislation seeks to address the nation’s shortage of air traffic controllers with directives aimed at expanding hiring and strengthening consumer protections for refunds for flight cancellations and delays. On the heels of several airline safety mishaps, it would also implement technology to reduce the risk of runway collisions. The House will next need to pass the legislation, which currently has broad bipartisan support.
Ukraine propaganda
(CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) Western intelligence believes Russia is seeking to exploit what it sees as a “window of opportunity” to further step up air and ground attacks on Ukraine as the country awaits further US aid. This comes as Russia unleashed a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine this week. Ukrainian authorities say Russia fired more than 50 missiles and 20 drones, targeting its energy infrastructure. Ukraine’s largest power company said this was the fifth time Russia has attacked its facilities in the last six weeks. Meanwhile in Russia, President Vladimir Putin presided over a choreographed Victory Day parade to display his military might. An estimated 9,000 personnel took part, including a thousand currently serving in the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Cyber attack
NOT READ: (CNN or theSkimm Fri 5-10-24) A cyberattack is disrupting clinical operations at a major health care nonprofit, forcing staff to divert ambulances from “several” hospitals. The cyberattack on Ascension, a St. Louis-based nonprofit network that includes 140 hospitals in 19 states, is causing issues with electronic health records, some phone systems and “various systems utilized to order certain tests, procedures and medications,” Ascension said Thursday. The incident follows other widespread hacks in recent months that have hobbled health care networks across the US. A February ransomware attack on Change Healthcare caused billing disruptions at pharmacies nationwide and threatened to put some health providers out of business. Its parent company paid a $22 million ransom to the cybercriminals to protect patient data in that case.
