**RIP German cop (killed by a Palestinian??)

(afpost on X and far-left Reuters) German police officer attacked by knifeman during protest has died — the 29-year-old policeman stabbed (by a Muslim) on Friday in the German city of Mannheim during an attack on a right-wing demonstration.

Suspect was a 25-year old male with a knife, who severely injured six individuals (KILLED ONE OF ‘EM, APPARENTLY…?). "He stabbed the police officer several times in the head," per a police statement; the officer underwent emergency surgery immediately after the attack Friday, placed in an induced coma but succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Police shot and wounded the attacker.

A livestream broadcast from central Mannheim on Friday had shown anti-Islam activist Michael Stuerzenberger preparing to address a small crowd at an event by the Pax Europa Movement.

(NOTE: I believe the YouTube livestream caught the attack, and the confusion in which police apparently went after the wrong guy at first — some speculated police were virtue signaling by going after a white old man instead of the young Muslim terrorist with glasses, knife or knives at first, and a nice haircut, but that’s unclear.)

June 1: German court orders man born in Afghanistan held after knife attack at an anti-political Islam event | AP News — 25-year-old man born in Afghanistan, lived in Germany since 2014, married and has two children. — Officials offered no information regarding the motive for the attack on Friday on the central square in Mannheim — suspect was shot and wounded by police, was hospitalized and not in a condition to be questioned. They said he had no prior police record.

They haven’t disclosed the suspect’s citizenship or immigration status or how he came to Germany.

The group, Pax Europa, describes itself as an organization that informs the public about the dangers posed by the “increasing spread and influence of political Islam.” Michael Stürzenberger, an anti-Islamist activist who is one of the group’s leading figures and has spoken at its events, was among those wounded.

**RIP Mexico Elected Its First Female President

Voters in Mexico headed to the polls yesterday to decide whether leftist Claudia Sheinbaum or “conservative” Xóchitl Gálvez should be the country’s next leader. The two women were the country's leading contenders, with a third male candidate trailing far behind in the polls. [Claudia] Sheinbaum is a Nobel Prize winning scientist, the former mayor of Mexico City, and an ally of outgoing [Chinese-backed] President Andrés Manuel López Obrador (AMLO). Xóchitl Gálvez is a former Mexican senator[ess], who vowed to be tougher on criminals.

NOT FULLY READ: Crime was a top voter issue, amid rising cartel-linked violence, with more than a dozen political kidnappings and assassinations leading up to the election, as well as femicide (LOOORD). Sheinbaum will have to navigate the challenges surrounding crime and Mexico's relationship with its northern neighbor. Mexico plays a key role in helping control immigration at the southern US border and in curbing the flow of drugs like fentanyl into the states. Sheinbaum will serve a six-year term, starting in October.

CNN: More than 20,000 government positions are also set to be filled after a campaign cycle marred by violence. Since June 2023, at least 34 political candidates or applicants have been killed by criminal organizations seeking to influence those with power. The vote also comes just months before the US presidential election, where immigration is a key topic.

But, Trump added, “I think it would be tough for the public to take, you know, at a certain point, there’s a breaking point.” A Manhattan jury last week found Trump guilty of all charges in his hush money trial, making him the first former president to become a convicted felon. In an attempt to appeal to younger voters, Trump has also joined TikTok — the social media platform with ties to China that he had railed against as president. The Biden campaign, for its part, also has a presence on TikTok even as the Biden administration has supported a nationwide TikTok ban.

*A Birth Control Option for Men Shows Progress

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 6-3-24) Over the weekend, researchers presented the results of a phase 2 trial for a male contraceptive gel. Here's how it works: Men in the trial apply the gel, which contains testosterone and a synthetic hormone called Nestorone, to their shoulders once a day. The trial, which includes over 200 men, found that the gel dropped sperm levels to no more than 1 million sperm per milliliter of semen in 86% of the participants. Typical sperm counts can range from 15 million to 200 million per milliliter. As for side effects, one user reportedly noticed upper back acne and possibly some weight gain.

The gel could reportedly be one of the most advanced birth control options available for men, if it gains FDA approval. There are currently no male birth control drugs on the market, despite decades of attempts. In one survey, 75% of cis-gender men said they'd take birth control. Researchers say a hurdle for developing male birth control is funding.
