The Hake Report, Mon. 5/11/20: (THREE BREAKS IN STREAM EARLY ON!) Mental Health Awareness Month, LGBTQ-Twitch and Michael Phelps. Fake Facts and Debates about Ahmaud Arbery and black recklessness. Great calls with Earl from MI, Clint from Canada, and Art from Ohio. Pics of messy “civil rights lawyers” promoted by CNN: Benjamin Crump, age 50, S. Lee Merritt (who suffers from depression), about 37, Michele K. Rayner-Goolsby, about 38, and L. Chris Stewart, about 41.

Mental Health Awareness Month
(Wikipedia) Mental Health Awareness Month (also referred to as "Mental Health Month") has been observed in May in the United States since 1949, reaching millions of people in the United States through the media, local events, and screenings.[1] — by the Mental Health America organization (then known as the National Association for Mental Health). During the month of May, Mental Health America, its affiliates, and other organizations interested in mental health conduct a number of activities which are based on a different theme each year.
I have a list of each year’s theme lately…
Mental Health Awareness Month strives to reduce the stigma (negative attitudes and misconceptions) that surrounds mental illnesses. The month came about by presidential proclamation.[9]
They also have this: National Children's Mental Health Awareness Day is another campaign. This event is sponsored by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration in partnership with other non-profit and advocacy organizations.[10]
Twitch has made an effort to participate in mental health awareness month as well, first with a blog post in 2018 [11] then with an email in 2019 directing users to the Twitch Cares: Mental Health Support & Information page.[12] The Twitch Cares page provides links to hotlines, games built on evidence-based therapeutic principles, and guidance on how to help viewers and streamers alike with specific resources for LGBTQ+ users. Streamers like MommaFoxFire place emphasis on mental health awareness during mental health awareness month and beyond to help lessen the stigma around talking about mental health.[13]
(REMINDS ME OF FRANK HASSLE VIDEO OF A TWITCH STREAMER…)
Other months and weeks throughout the year are designated to raise awareness around specific mental health conditions or the mental health of different demographic groups (Minority Mental Health Month, Mental Illness Awareness Week, National Depression Screening Day, etc.).
I have pics from a Skimm advertiser of Michael Phelps.
Caller Log, courtesy of Jesse’s producer, Nick
Earl from Michigan wonders if James has saluted his Fuhrer, referring to him being Baby Hitler… Earl gets to his point, he calls in to challenge James on a number of things he said regarding the death of Ahmaud Arbery and other related topics.
Clint from Canada has issues with James' comments on black recklessness. He actually thinks the whites were reckless but won’t admit that Arbery was reckless!
Art from Ohio wonders if Earl and other blacks would be fair in their reaction to a story he brings up.
Ramon from North Carolina disagrees with James stance on the Ahmaud Arbery case, he accuses James of race baiting.
Some things I wanted to get to…
More examples of Fake News
(The Skimm today) Ahmaud Arbery. Yesterday, the state's attorney general asked for a federal investigation into the handling of his case. In February, two white men [correction: ONE white man] shot and killed Arbery– a 25-year-old unarmed black man [correction: he had ahold of the gun] – while he was jogging [correction: while fighting] in a suburban neighborhood of Georgia. …
INTERESTING AND NOT NECESSARILY FAKE NEWS: Recent reports showed that police officers were ready to arrest the two on the day of the shooting, but were stopped by a local district attorney – who later recused herself from the case (The Guardian). … Now, Georgia's AG is asking the U.S. Justice Department to investigate the DA's handling of the case. SMH. (I don’t trust higher-ups to be accountable to the local people! Imagine, they want the UN to be over the US!)
I have PICS of the protests….
ALSO: I was telling you guys about Sean Reed getting shot on Sunday, I think. “After an exchange of gunfire…” he was shot and killed. “Closed casket, homie.”
The Arbery family attorneys
(CNN) Members of Arbery's family are represented by two high-profile civil rights attorneys.
(CNN) When African Americans are killed by police, these lawyers get a phone call: Benjamin Crump, age 50, S. Lee Merritt (who suffers from depression), about 37, Michele K. Rayner-Goolsby, about 38, and L. Chris Stewart, about 41.
I told you yesterday Benjamin Crump represents Arbery's father (Marcus Sr.).
Both Merritt and Crump have challenged authorities' handling of the Arbery case and arguments made in defense of the suspects.
