(Drudge) VIRUS GRIPS UK (CNN) UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is in intensive care after being admitted to the hospital with worsening coronavirus symptoms. (CNN IS FAKE NEWS! THEY SAID HE WAS ADMITTED AS A PRECAUTION! THAT IMPLIES HE WASN’T SUFFERING SYMPTOMS!) The 55-year-old PM has deputized Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab to fill in for leadership duties when necessary (he seems like an ok guy, we’ll see...healthier at least!). (Fox News) Boris received standard oxygen treatment without ventilation (whatever that means!) overnight and does not have pneumonia, according to Downing Street (which means officials).
BTW: Across the world, most of Japan has entered a state of emergency today, which will last for a month. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has advised people stay home and practice social distancing. However, Abe is also facing criticism for not activating such measures earlier, as the full global weight of the crisis became clear.
The tiny South Pacific island nation of Vanuatu was just hit by a tropical cyclone, one of the strongest on record to reach the island, which forced the government to lift social distancing measures for those affected.
(Drudge) ISRAEL PASSOVER LOCKDOWN WHOA, FIRST CHINESE NEW YEAR, NOW PASSOVER? Luckily the Christians are ignoring lockdown orders, j/k. (J Post) PM Benjamin Netanyahu announced a nationwide lockdown until Friday 7am (that would be Good Friday… commemorating when Jesus died for us). Israel’s coronavirus death toll was 58 as of Monday. And cases of the sickness was at 8,904, including 139 patients in severe condition.
(Drudge) US DEATH TOLL TOPS 10,000 (The Week) nearly half of those are from New York — the state hit 4758 deaths Monday. New York has been the hardest hit state when it comes to COVID-19 case counts, followed by New Jersey, Michigan, and then California.
(CNN) President Trump has announced a deal with 3M that will see the company produce 166.5 million masks -- nearly all N95s -- to distribute to healthcare workers fighting the coronavirus outbreak. Administration officials said Trump's employment of the Defense Production Act helped smooth the deal. However, there's still a dire need for more personal protective equipment (PPE) on the front lines of the crisis (they mean in hospitals, etc.). A bipartisan group of senators sent a letter to President Donald Trump urging him to take "aggressive federal action" in addressing the shortage of respirators, gloves, gowns, and eye protection that have left medical professionals across the country begging for more support. States desperate for medical supplies like ventilators have even turned to each other for support, with states less hard-hit by the virus lending critical equipment to those more in need.
(Drudge) More than half of Chicago cases are African Americans… aka BLACKS. That’s more than half of those who DIED are blacks. (A Google search says that: the racial composition of Chicago was recently: White: 49%, Black: 30%, Other race: 10.94%) … (Chicago CBS Local) Mayor Lori Lightfoot noted that some of the city’s more culturally, tight-knit communities may be experiencing higher incidents of COVID-19. “What is turning out to be a positive attribute is turning into a risk factor,” Lightfoot said. “We are all in this crisis together but we are not all experiencing this crisis in the same way.”

Check this out: This was in the top 5 news items from CNN today… White Supremacy: For the first time in history, the US State Department has named a white supremacist organization as Specially Designated Global Terrorists. The group in question is the Russian Imperial Movement (RIM), which the department describes as "a terrorist group that provides paramilitary-style training to neo-Nazis and white supremacists." The State Department doesn't have the authority to apply such a designation to groups with strong US ties, but said the decision was made to help prevent the group from spreading its ideology and tactics in the country. Officials have warned that the threat of white supremacist terror is on the rise at home and abroad, with several violent incidents making headlines across the world in recent years.
Also in the news. (CNN) The Vatican: Cardinal George Pell has been freed from prison after Australia's High Court unanimously overturned his conviction on five counts of historical child sex abuse. The decision ends a five-year battle that began when an adult man told police Pell had abused him when he was a child in the 1990s. At the time, Pell was Vatican Treasurer and the highest ranking Catholic official to ever be publicly accused of child sex offenses. Advocates say the decision will be a blow to survivors (meaning SUPPOSED victims) whose faith in the legal system's response to ALLEGED abuse was bolstered by the verdict. The President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, Archbishop Mark Coleridge, also acknowledged that the ruling could be devastating for some. EMOTIONALLY DEVASTATING, I GUESS?
Anyway, back to corona news… (CNN) Two auto insurers -- Allstate and American Family Insurance -- said they were giving back $800M to their customers because people are driving far less during the coronavirus crisis. (PSH! My commute went from 25 miles to less than two miles, yet my insurance DOUBLED because I moved to L.A. proper. I went from 14K miles a year to just over 3,000 miles in a YEAR last year! Anyway...)
(Drudge) Food Bank Line Stretches Miles in Florida… DANG! (Daily Mail) Stark photos show a miles-long row of cars waiting outside a Florida food bank — waiting at a distribution center in Sunrise, just outside of Fort Lauderdale — as demand for produce surges by 600 per cent and more than half-a-million residents file for unemployment there. “Feeding South Florida,” a nonprofit, distributed food to SUPPOSEDLY needy Floridian motorists on Monday.
(Drudge) MCDONALD's staff walkout over unsafe conditions… SUPPOSEDLY. THEN GET SAFE! (The Sun) Employees at a McDonalds restaurant in Los Angeles staged a strike and demanded more safety equipment after hearing about positive diagnosis for a female worker earlier this week. "We don't yet know exactly who tested positive," Bartolome Perez, a 30-year cook at McDonald's, told Fox 11. GEEZ, 30. "One of our other co-workers let people know that a female worker had tested positive for the virus Monday or Tuesday." So they’re demanding the parent company of the franchise provide masks, etc. GET YOUR OWN! Whatever. I heard masks protect others from you if you have germs, not so much the other way around! They're also curious as to why the fast food chain didn't tell them about their sick colleague. That may be a good question — if there was some delay, which there’s no proof there was. "We've been pleading for protective equipment for more than a month now, but McDonald's is putting profits ahead of our health," he told the news station. "We don't want to die for McDonald's burgers and fries." OH GOSH, SOUNDS LIKE A TROUBLE MAKER. They’re trying to file a complaint with OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Administration) — I wanna know how well these workers are protecting US the customers!
In a statement to The Sun, owner Nicole Enearu said the restaurant was immediately shut down and sanitized after the woman tested positive. An "ample supply" of gloves have been provided to employees, and the restaurant will pay the infected worker as well as those who need to quarantine. "We have been in contact with the employee and are providing support during this time," Enearu said. "Additionally, we identified and reached out to all restaurant staff who had been in close contact with the employee who contracted the virus. Our people are the heart and soul of the McDonald's family. We are keeping this employee in our thoughts for a fast and full recovery."
