MOSTLY PEACEFUL CAPITOL PROTEST
(CNN) Former President Donald Trump indicated that he will try to assert executive privilege to prevent a House committee investigating the January 6 “insurrection” (FAKE NEWS) at the US Capitol from getting information from certain witnesses.
An ANONYMOUS(?) source familiar with the former President's legal strategy confirms to CNN that an attorney for Trump sent letters to some of the subpoena targets, informing them of his plan to defend executive privilege.
While the letter instructed the subpoena targets to not comply with congressional investigators, according to The Washington Post, it is up to each witness to decide whether to follow Trump's direction.
Rep. Pete Aguilar, a member of the committee, told CNN that it is not Trump's place to decide what information is covered by executive privilege. "The former President, it is not his role to claim privilege. That is the current occupant in the White House," Aguilar said.
The committee issued a new round of subpoenas, targeting two leaders of the "Stop the Steal" group, Ali Alexander and Nathan Martin, who are also affiliated with the planning of the Washington, DC, rally that was a precursor to the attack.
GHANA NOT FOR GAYS
(CNN) In the coming weeks, Ghana's parliament is set to debate a draft bill -- framed in the guise of "family values" -- that seeks to introduce some of the harshest anti-LGBTQ laws on the African continent. The prospect of it passing is pushing the country's LGBTQ community (NO SUCH THING) into the shadows. LGBTQ Ghanaians have been left asking how things got so bad, so quickly, and Western diplomats say they have been caught by surprise. But what one Ghanaian activist calls a "homophobe's dream bill" has deep roots in Ghana's religious community. It also found key inspiration from a US ultra-conservative group with Russian ties.
CHILDREN AND THE CHINA VIRUS
(TheSkimm) COVID-19 has forever changed thousands of children’s lives.
Tell me.
Since the onset of the pandemic, COVID-19 has killed more than 700,000 people (SUPPOSEDLY) in the US, disproportionately impacting UNHEALTHY communities of color. They were our friends, family, coworkers, and neighbors (SPEAK FOR YOURSELVES!). And in many instances, they were parents. Yesterday, a new study revealed more on the devastating impact of COVID-19 on kids. Since the start of the pandemic, more than 140,000 children in the US are estimated to have lost a parent, grandparent (OH GOSH), or caregiver who provided things like basic needs, housing, and everyday care because of the virus. That’s about one in 515 kids. The real number could be higher.
Go on.
California, Texas, and New York had the highest number of primary caregiver deaths. But the burden of dealing with losing a parent or other caregiver was highest along the US-Mexico border, states with tribal areas, and southeastern states. And things aren't the same across the board. For Native American Indian children, one in 168 lost a parent. And it's at one in 310 for [b]lack children – compared to one of every 753 white children. Experts warn that losing a caregiver is one of the worst things that can happen to a child, leading to an increased risk of suicide and drug abuse. It can even lead to heart problems as they try to cope with grief.
What can we do?
Help stop the spread.
NOT READ: In the meantime, kids will continue to experience this type of pain. Health officials reminded everyone that children need help and support – including, and especially, for mental health (EVIL!). The study’s authors called on policy changes that would provide grieving children with resources, economic support, and care. This latest study comes amid a bigger conversation about the importance of getting Americans vaccinated. And as Pfizer seeks emergency use approval for its vax for kids ages 5-11.

Political differences have created a divide in how the US handles the pandemic. But every decision we make impacts children – and the virus’s deadly toll has left a lifelong impact on those who are just starting out in the world.

VAXX MADNESS
(The Epoch Times) Pfizer Formally Asks Drug Regulators to Let Kids as Young as 5 Get Its COVID-19 Vaccine
(CNN) Pfizer and BioNTech said they are seeking US Food and Drug Administration emergency use authorization for their Covid-19 vaccine for children ages 5 to 11. If authorized, this would be the first Covid-19 vaccine for younger children.
“With new cases in children in the U.S. continuing to be at a high level, this submission is an important step in our ongoing effort against COVID-19,” Pfizer said in a statement.
Pfizer’s vaccine is already authorized for MINORS aged 12 to 17 and approved for adults aged 18 and older, though the approved version isn’t yet available in the United States.
Some experts and parents are pushing for a vaccine for younger children, CLAIMING that they can spread COVID-19 to others, even if they’re at little risk of severe disease themselves. But opponents note the low risk of danger COVID-19 poses to children and the elevated chances kids have of suffering heart inflammation if they receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Some European countries are now recommending just one dose of COVID-19 vaccines that utilize messenger RNA technology, such as the Pfizer vaccine, because of potential side effects.
Pfizer’s trial gave children a two-dose regimen of 10 micrograms each, while older populations were given doses of 30 micrograms each.

Colorado Hospital Refuses Kidney Transplant to Woman Over COVID-19 Vaccine Refusal
(The Epoch Times) Leilani Lutali received a letter on Sept. 28 informing her that the transplant team at the University of Colorado Hospital decided to designate her inactive on the waiting list for transplants.
“You will be inactivated on the list for non-compliance by not receiving the COVID vaccine,” the letter states.
If Lutali continues to refuse to get a vaccine, she “will be removed from the kidney transplant list,” it added.
Neither Lutali nor her designated donor, Jaimee Fougner, have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Fougner hasn’t for religious reasons, while Lutali believes there isn’t enough known about the vaccines, they told KCNC-TV.
According to Lutali, hospital officials previously said vaccination wasn’t required to get a transplant.
“Here I am, willing to be a direct donor to her. It does not affect any other patient on the transplant list,” said Fougner. “How can I sit here and allow them to murder my friend when I’ve got a perfectly good kidney and can save her life?”
The hospital didn’t respond to a request for comment. It told news outlets in a statement that there are many requirements in place at transplant centers, such as requiring patients to avoid alcohol. PSH.
Kaiser Permanente Puts 2,200 Unvaccinated Employees on Unpaid Leave Nationwide
(The Epoch Times) The employees who were suspended represent more than 1 percent of the firm’s workforce as the company employs around 216,000 people nationwide. They have until Dec. 1 to be vaccinated in order to return to work, the firm said in an Oct. 5 statement.
“More than 92 percent of our employees have been vaccinated—and the number continues to grow,” Kaiser stated, adding that as of Oct. 4, employees who have “not responded to our vaccine requirement” were placed on unpaid administrative leave.
“We hope none of our employees will choose to leave their jobs rather than be vaccinated, but we won’t know with certainty until then,” the Oakland, California-based company stated. “We will continue to work with this group of employees to allay concerns and educate them about the vaccines, their benefits, and risks.”
Several other large hospital systems have issued similar directives in recent days.
On Oct. 4, New York-based Northwell Health announced it had terminated 1,400 workers because they didn’t receive the COVID-19 vaccine, coming as a mandate issued by the New York governor’s office came into effect for health care workers.
North Carolina-based Novant Health announced 175 workers were fired.
United Airlines, fewer than 1 percent will be fired, the company stated.
