CLIMATE HYSTERIA
(CNN) A group of scientists in France may be able to save humanity from climate change. For nearly a century, the world has been trying to develop a limitless clean energy process called nuclear fusion, which could power much of the Earth instead of QUOTE-UNQUOTE “fossil fuels” (WHICH I HEAR MAY BE A MISNOMER) like coal, oil and gas. And now, “experts” say “scientists” are closer than ever to making it happen. YAY!
TEXAS SCHOOL SHOOTING (IT’S BARELY TEXAS)
(CNN) The first funerals are this week for victims of the Uvalde school shooting. Families received custom caskets at no cost, two funeral homes vowed to cover expenses.
Questions remain about the response by law enforcement to the shooting. The gunmale who (allegedly) killed 19 students and two teachers was on the premises up to an hour before officer(s) forcibly entered a classroom and killed him, officials said last week. School police chief Pedro "Pete" Arredondo has faced criticism from those who feel officers should have acted quicker to subdue or eliminate the gunman.
The Uvalde city council announced they’d would postpone their meeting today, where several new members -- including Arredondo -- were set to be sworn in. Arredondo has not been seen by the press since the shooting.
DAILY DOSE OF UKRAINE PROPAGANDA
(CNN) As Russia remains defiant in the face of sanctions from the so-called West, the evil EU (European Union) dealt another blow to the Kremlin by partially banning Russian oil imports to the EU. The ban "immediately covers more than 2/3 of oil imports from Russia, cutting a huge source of financing for its war machine," European Council chief Charles Michel tweeted yesterday. OOoooOO.
A sixth package of sanctions was also recently discussed by EU leaders, which could contain other hard hitting measures, including cutting off the largest Russian bank from the SWIFT network, banning more Russian state-owned broadcasters, and sanctioning individuals responsible for war crimes in Ukraine. On the ground today, Russia is "focusing on establishing control" over Severodonetsk and is hammering the region with constant shelling, the Ukrainian military says.
MONKEYPOX
(CNN) There have been 257 confirmed monkeypox cases and about 120 suspected cases in 23 nations, including the US, the World Health Organization announced in an update over the weekend. In the US, the CDC has reported 12 cases. In five African countries where monkeypox is commonly found, the WHO said it has received reports of 1,365 cases and 69 deaths from December through May due to the virus. No deaths have been reported in non-endemic countries. The WHO said the global public health risk level is moderate, but could become high if the virus spreads to groups at higher risk of severe disease, such as young children and immunosuppressed persons.
FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS
(CNN) It was a chaotic holiday weekend for those traveling by air. Since Friday, upwards of 6,000 global flights were canceled with hundreds more fights delayed, according to flight tracking data. Delta Air Lines was heavily affected by the cancellations, with more than 500 domestic and international flights flights axed from Saturday through yesterday.
NOT READ: The carrier blamed Saturday's cancellations on bad weather and "air traffic control actions" that took place on Friday, saying it is trying to preemptively cancel flights at least 24 hours in advance. The most affected airports over the weekend included the ones in New York City and in the Washington, DC areas.

MORE ON THE UVALDE COPS
(TheSkimm) The police response in Uvalde is under a microscope. …In recent days, it’s been revealed that officers were on the scene for more than an hour without intervening — leaving children trapped inside with the shooter…. parents begged officers to do something and students stuck inside kept calling 911 for help (per theSkimm).
Why? Many look to that “school police chief” (WHAT A TITLE) I mentioned last hour, Pedro “Pete” Arredondo who had recently completed active shooter training. Police protocol, established after the 1999 Columbine massacre (in Littleton, CO), is to run in and stop the shooter before anything else.
But the police chief reportedly believed "there were no more children at risk.” He told officers to hold off and treat the situation in the classroom as a "barricaded subject" rather than an active shooter. The decision came as the gunmale continued firing in the classroom, REPORTEDLY.
The SO-CALLED Justice Department (TOTAL MISNOMER) is conducting a review of the police response.
Criminal charges are rarely filed against law enforcement in cases of mass shootings — the one recent exception being the 2018 school massacre in Parkland.
(Former Broward Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, the only armed male assigned to the school on Feb. 14, 2018, faced 11 criminal charges — including child neglect, culpable negligence and perjury. Scot Peterson didn't go into the building where 17 people were eventually killed. Instead, he hid for 48 minutes at the base of a stairwell after the first shots were fired, according to a Public Safety Commission report.)
70yo 6’1” Sen. John Cornyn III (R-TX, who normally seems ok; I could be wrong…) has been in talks with EVIL anti-2A Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) to see if they can agree “on a basic framework” for bipartisan “gun reform” legislation (WHAT A EUPHEMISM! REFORM THE PEOPLE, NOT THE GUNS!).
LYING MALE FEMINIST
(CNN) QUOTE: “Gun violence is a complex problem, but at the end of the day the math is really quite simple: The fewer the guns in our communities, the safer everyone will be.” — LIES from Canada’s male-feminist PM Justin Trudeau, announcing yesterday the introduction of a bill that would place a national freeze on handgun ownership across Canada. If passed, the legislation will make it no longer possible to buy, sell, transfer or import handguns anywhere in Canada, according to Trudeau.
WATCH OUT FOR HEPATITIS A!
(TheSkimm) Strawberries are in season, BUT: Over the weekend, the (corrupt) FDA said they’re working alongside other regulators to investigate a multistate outbreak of hepatitis A infections. The FDA warns the illness likely stemmed from certain organic strawberries purchased between March 5 and April 25. While the products are past their shelf life, the FDA says anyone who froze the berries should toss them.
BTW: Severe hepatitis. On Friday, the UN’s WHO said 650 cases in children had been reported from over 30 countries — but believe it's a vast undercount.
Cases of the mysterious infection — which causes inflammation of the liver— have resulted in at least nine deaths.
Health officials are still investigating the cause and say some flu- or cold-like viruses (adenoviruses) may be playing a role. But that doesn't seem to explain all of the cases. The CDC’s encouraging parents to look for cold symptoms (fever, nausea) but also others, like jaundice or joint pain.
FOOTBALL PLAYER DIED — DRIVE SAFELY!
NOT READ: (CNN) Jeff Gladney, a 25-year-old black NFL cornerback for the Arizona Cardinals, died in a car crash yesterday in Dallas, Texas, according to the team's official website. Gladney was among two people who died in the crash involving a speeding vehicle that lost control, authorities said. Gladney was entering the third season of his NFL career, after playing college football at Texas Christian University.
