JLP Show Notes Tue. 2-7-23
JLP Hr 1
(BQ: Why do you take sides?) MONOLOGUE: Is Jesse an African American? No. They’re putting all the wrong people in the right places to make sure the country doesn’t come back. EXAMPLE: Biden’s 97 confirmed federal judges include 5 white men and 22 black women. Air Traffic Controller’s story: Near miss! Shootings, etc… black excellence! What will it take for you to wake up? //
(False start with Super Chats…) Earl from VA is asking about something. // Ron from TX says Trump favored blacks more than anyone. // Tatface from NYC answers BQ: I picked the good side. He was locked up; we need programs for kids. // Nick fills-in for Hassan, reading Super Chats… Hake helps define the Firmament, per Google. //
JLP Hr 2
Nick finishes super chats. // 7:13 Migrants leaving NYC, headed to Canada for a better life. Nick chimes in with details. // A couple false starts with calls. … // Ronnie from OH answers the BQ, I think. He talks about seeing a man and woman fight, scenario. //
JLP answers BQ: How long to pray? Animus answers BQ… // Jordan in MO (1st-timer) used to hate Jews, because they controlled the media and pushed evil like Drag Queen Story Hour (via Frankfurt School), it made his blood boil. He’s 28, his stepdad committed suicide in 2012. He’s a new Christian; none of his family are. He feels called to be a pastor, and wouldn’t bend the knee to homosexuality. The Pope seemed to endorse homosexuality. Anyone who teaches the Bible, and not born again of love, is a Pharisee. // Another last caller or two… pretty good, but I didn’t catch it. //
JLP Hr 3
JLP reads from SF Gate 2015: Blacks cited for resisting arrest 8x as much as whites. Disney+ Proud Family shows black cartoon girls claiming slaves built this country. Recent clip: Black boys attack a little white girl on a bus.

BLACK HISTORY LUNCH
(CNN Tue.) QUOTE: “Our menu was not intended as a cultural meal.” -- Food vendor Aramark, apologizing after receiving criticism for serving an insensitive school lunch on the first day of Black History Month. The lunch menu offered on February 1 at a middle school in New York was chicken and waffles, along with watermelon. "We apologize for the unintentional insensitivity shown … and our team should have been more thoughtful in its service," the company said in a statement.
“DOMESTIC EXTREMISM”
(CNN Tue.) Authorities in the US are once again warning about a rise in domestic extremists plotting to attack the nation's power grids -- which government reports have warned could cause a domino effect and leave huge parts of the country in the dark. Efforts are underway to make vulnerable energy facilities more resilient as the Justice Department hands down serious charges to people accused of conspiring to wipe out power in major cities.
SPEAKING OF EXTREMISTS
(CNN Tue.) President Joe Biden will deliver “his” State of the Union address to the American people tonight at 9 p.m. ET. It's a tradition rooted in the US Constitution (HUH?), following 98 previous in-person annual messages since George Washington's first in 1790. This will be Biden's second State of the Union address, but his first in front of a divided Congress (RINOs got the House). During the speech, he will seek to remind lawmakers and the nation of his “accomplishments,” and selling himself for another term. Probably hitting: inflation, Covid-19, mass shootings, police reform (not black reform) and infrastructure (communist buzzword).
(CNN Sun.) TODAY (TUES.) This year’s SOTU will take place with Republicans newly in control of the House, a position of “power” the GOP is using to launch congressional oversight investigations aimed at the Biden administration. It also comes as the president faces heightened scrutiny over the handling of classified documents after his time as vice president.
(CNN Sun.) Following Biden's speech, Arkansas Gov. and former Trump White House press secretary Sarah “Huckabee” Sanders will deliver the Republican response, congressional “leaders” announced.
INVASION
(CNN Tue.) Immigration remains at historic highs amid deteriorating conditions in Latin America that were exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, border experts say. Data shows this has increasingly included more migrants from countries outside of El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala -- posing a unique challenge to the Biden administration. Last December, border authorities took about 77,000 migrants from Cuba or Nicaragua into custody, according to US Customs and Border Protection data.
NOT READ: That's compared to about 53,000 encounters with migrants from Mexico and northern Central America, marking a drop from December 2021. While the Biden administration has garnered more than $4.2 billion in private sector commitments to tackle the root causes of migration, officials say the funds are being channeled toward long-term fixes, so it could take more time to see substantial changes on the ground.

EARTHQUAKE
(CNN Tue.) More than 5,000 people have been killed and tens of thousands injured after a magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck Turkey and Syria on Monday (and a 7.5 aftershock). A massive rescue effort is underway and aid agencies are particularly worried about northwestern Syria, where more than 4 million people were already relying on humanitarian assistance. The international community has been quick to offer assistance to the countries as the full scale of the disaster becomes clear. This morning, planes arrived in Syria carrying aid from Iraq and Iran, including food, medicine, and blankets, according to state media. The US, Japan, India, Pakistan and other countries have committed to assist with rescue crews. Meanwhile, more than 300 Russian soldiers are also clearing debris and helping in search operations in Syria, Russia's Defense Ministry said.
TRAIN DERAILMENT
(CNN Tue.) Residents of East Palestine, Ohio, are still unable to return to their homes after a train derailment four days ago sparked a massive fire and prompted widespread evacuations. The train crashed Friday while carrying hazardous materials, causing a fire that continues to burn. Five of the derailed train cars were carrying vinyl chloride -- a chemical that is unstable and threatened an explosion that would have hurled toxic fumes into the air and shoot deadly shrapnel as far as a mile away, officials said. Crews on Monday performed a controlled release of the chemicals, but evacuated residents are still being urged to stay away today amid the wait for the fire to die down.
Florida vs. Disney
(CNN Sun.) MONDAY (YESTERDAY): Florida lawmakers were to return to the state Capitol to finalize their efforts to strip the Walt Disney Company of its special governing powers, the latest round in a feud between Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and the entertainment giant. House and Senate leaders informed lawmakers late last week that the legislature will hold a special session starting Monday that will include changes to the Reedy Creek Improvement District, the elected board that effectively gives Disney control over the land in and around its central Florida theme parks.
GOOGLE IS EVIL
(CNN Tue.) Google on Monday unveiled a new chatbot tool dubbed "Bard" in an apparent bid to compete with the success of ChatGPT. The viral ChatGPT bot has stunned users with its ability to provide lengthy, thoughtful and thorough responses to questions and prompts -- even if inaccurate. But as with other AI-powered tools, it's also posed some concerns, including how it could disrupt education and spread misinformation. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google and parent company Alphabet, said in a blog post that Bard will be opened up to "trusted testers" starting this week, with plans to make it available to the public "in the coming weeks." Chinese search engine giant Baidu also said today it would be launching its own ChatGPT-style service, sending the company's shares soaring.
(CNN Sun.) WEDNESDAY: Google plans to livestream an event that will showcase a "reimagining" of how people search for, explore and interact with information. Details are scant, but many in the tech world are expecting the event to focus on artificial intelligence and a possible competitor to AI chatbot ChatGPT.
