New Biblical Question: Why do you call yourself a sinner? Last week’s Biblical Q: What connects you with the physical world? … Great segments that Hake missed (blacks, school, maybe women… female rapper video mess…)  //

Theresa (sp) from TX, great call… asking about thoughts, doubting God, etc.  //  Jenny (sp) in IL (1st-timer) a new fan, used to be public school teacher, was a hardcore atheist, now Christian, Chicago area(?), indoctrinated in college, Marxist, thought profs were so smart, didn’t resist …  //  A few Super Chats with Hake… Eclipse and Christians’ superstition (per Hassan)... God’s criteria for a divorced mother as a new wife?

Mon 4-8-24 Hr 2

JLP revisits the God’s criteria notion from the man’s super chat briefly. Female Monday!  //  Douglas from FL (1st-timer) talks about “7 deadly sins” and gluttony, overeating. Age 32. Have to accomplish things. Why do you believe society? He was answering the BQ: Why do you call yourself a sinner?  //  Geoffrey (sp) in TN (1st-timer) is about 40, whites not tough as they used to be, afraid of the blacks / “racism” mess.  //

Total solar eclipse: Ms. Moon

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) It’s solar eclipse day ( total solar eclipse ). Millions of Americans will be gazing up at the sky in hopes of seeing the moon pass between the Earth and the sun. 32 million Americans live along the path of totality (where it’s possible to see the moon completely block out the sun —  in states from Texas to Maine ). The phenomenon is expected to last up to four minutes. As for when it starts, that depends on your ZIP code. Fingers crossed storm clouds don’t get in the way.

This will be the last total solar eclipse visible in the US until 2044. Eclipses aren’t just cool to see — they’re also essential to scientific discovery. Just don't forget to wear protective eclipse glasses. Experts say it can be safe to look up during the few minutes when the moon fully obscures the sun. However, staring directly at the sun before or after the total eclipse or during the partial eclipse can result in permanent damage to your eyes.

Gaza drama

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) Israel has withdrawn its forces from Khan Younis in southern Gaza after months of fierce fighting that left much of the city in ruins. But Israeli troops are “far from stopping” operations in the enclave, the military’s chief of staff said. Israel’s defense minister emphasized that troops would prepare for new missions, including in Rafah, where about 1.5 million Palestinians are sheltering. Also over the weekend, talks between Israel and Hamas in Cairo yielded “significant progress” and consensus on many controversial points, Egyptian state media reported. The negotiations aim to achieve a ceasefire and hostage deal.

Mexico-Ecuador

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) Where there's outrage… Mexico. Over the weekend, Mexico cut diplomatic ties with Ecuador after police raided the Mexican Embassy in Quito. Ecuadorian forces stormed the embassy to arrest Ecuador’s former VP Jorge Glas, who faces corruption charges and has been at the embassy since December. The raid sparked outcry across Latin America, as an embassy is considered sovereign territory. Mexico plans to raise the issue before the World Court in The Hague.

Ukraine propaganda

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) In his starkest warning yet, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his country will lose the war with Russia if the US doesn’t supply more military aid. Zelensky, in a video conference Sunday, pleaded for more munitions and warned that “other states will be attacked” if Ukraine is unable to sustain its resistance.

NOT READ: Meanwhile, the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in southern Ukraine was damaged Sunday in a drone attack. The International Atomic Energy Agency called the strike “a serious incident (with) potential to undermine the integrity of the reactor’s containment system” but stressed the damage did not compromise nuclear safety.

Trump raising moolah!

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) Donald Trump’s campaign said it brought in $50.5M at a Saturday fundraiser in Florida, setting a record for a single fundraising event. The haul comes as the former president’s political operation scrambles to close its financial gap with President Joe Biden and the Democratic Party (it took Biden, Obama, Clinton, and a bunch of stars to bring in a measly $25M…).

Student loan “forgiveness”

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) QUOTE: “Debt cancellation not only benefits borrowers, it benefits the entire economy.” — The Biden administration, unveiling details of a new plan to forgive student loan debt. The proposals announced today will mark Biden’s second attempt to implement broad student loan forgiveness after the Supreme Court struck down his first plan last summer. BRIBERY!

Housing thru the roof

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) What’s becoming an elusive American dream… Housing. A new survey from Redfin found that one in five Americans are skipping meals in order to afford their mortgage or rent. Another one in six Americans are skipping or delaying medical treatments. Meanwhile, about half of the US is struggling to make their payments on time. The report comes as home prices have gone up about 60% over the past decade and amid a housing shortage that states and the federal government are struggling to address.

Planes falling apart!

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) What’s feeding travelers’ fears… Another plane part falling off. Yesterday, the Federal Aviation Administration said it’s investigating after an engine cover fell off a Southwest Airlines Boeing plane during takeoff, hitting a wing flap. The flight from Denver to Houston returned to the airport, and the passengers boarded another plane. The incident comes as authorities already have their hands full on separate probes involving Boeing and Southwest.

CNN: A Houston-bound Boeing 737-800 plane operated by Southwest Airlines returned safely to Denver International Airport on Sunday after losing an engine cover. The FAA said it will investigate the incident, which occurred during takeoff. In recorded air traffic control audio, one of the pilots said “several passengers and flight attendants heard something loud hit the wing.” This is the latest in a string of mechanical issues to plague Boeing aircraft across a range of airlines over the past several months even as the company has faced years of scrutiny regarding the safety of its planes.

NOT really READ: Mike Johnson under fire

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) House Speaker Mike Johnson faces a looming threat to his speakership and mounting pressure to decide whether he will finally move ahead on aid to Ukraine. Last week, Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene bluntly warned Johnson that moving ahead with an aid package for Ukraine would be one of “the most egregious things he could do” and threatened to force a House vote seeking his ouster. The issue for Johnson remains that any aid to Ukraine will need a large number of Democratic votes — including from lawmakers who are aiming to include funding for Israel in the package. Congress will also confront a series of other major issues this week, including an impeachment battle against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and recovery efforts following the collapse of Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key bridge.

Remember RIP Toby Keith he died within the past few months

(CNN or theSkimm Mon 4-8-24) Highlights from CMT Music Awards: The late country music singer Toby Keith was honored during Sunday’s CMT Music Awards with a celebratory tribute performance, backed by his longtime band on stage.

Toby Keith - per Wikipedia - died on February 5, 2024, following a two-year “battle with” stomach cancer.[3] He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2024, having been elected just hours after his death.[4] Great.
