Tech CEO apologizes for quoting Martin Luther King Jr. in layoff email
(CNN Wed.) A great quote in a wrong place... Read the layoff announcement that sparked controversy among employees and on social media.
On January 24, PagerDuty CEO Jennifer Tejada sent a letter to employees announcing the digital operations management company would eliminate about 7% of its workforce.
“I am reminded in moments like this, of something Martin Luther King said, that ‘the ultimate measure of a [leader] is not where [they] stand in the moments of comfort and convenience, but where [they] stand in times of challenge and controversy,’” she wrote. “PagerDuty is a leader that stands behind its customers, its values, and our vision — for an equitable world where we transform critical work so all teams can delight their customers and build trust.”
On Friday she apologized… “The quote I included from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was inappropriate and insensitive,” she said in the memo. “I should have been more upfront about the layoffs in the email, more thoughtful about my tone, and more concise. I am sorry.”
The tech industry has seen a spate of layoffs in recent weeks. Amazon announced in early January that it would lay off more than 18,000 workers. And Salesforce said it plans to cut about 10% of its staff. Microsoft, meanwhile, is laying off 10,000 employees.
CHI-TOWN MAYOR DANCING

(EricMMatheny) 2278 murders in her city since she was elected mayor.
(ChicagoContrar1) Since @chicagosmayor's term began, Chicago has suffered 2,278 homicides and over 9,000 shot. Since January 1, the city has endured 41 homicides and 194 shot. Yet here Lightfoot is blissfully dancing and asking voters to return her to office. Lightfoot is detached from reality.

ARTICLE Minnesota Governor Tim Walz Signs Bill Legalizing Abortions Up to Birth - LifeNews.com
Walz signed into law the Protect Reproductive Options (PRO) Act to enshrine in state statute a “fundamental right” to abortion without limits or safeguards. The bill had passed the House and Senate by narrow margins after Democrat leaders quickly pushed it through the legislature in the opening weeks of the session.
Authored by Rep. Carlie Kotyza-Witthuhn, D-Eden Prairie, the bill would allow abortion on demand even late in pregnancy when unborn babies are viable and can feel excruciating pain. The bill also would also deny parents the right to know if their minor daughter is seeking an abortion.
REPLY (SoniyaS28427510) [pic: Gutmacher chart of abortion facts from 2016] you have to address this , there is no possible scenarios of no abortions, the only thing which happens is unsafe abortions.. backyard abortions, putting the life of the mother in danger

Jory Micah on CAPITALIST education
TWEET / PIC (AnnieForTruth) How sad is this? [pic: US Dept of Ed: 54% US adults lack proficiency in literacy, reading below 6th-grade level (sad face emoji)]
(jorymicah) That’s because the USA public school system is literally designed to create workers FOR the 1% capitalist class, who need most people to be just educated enough to run their machines but not enough to realize that we have masters that are exploiting us and we should fight back.
