(CNN) Today’s St. Patrick’s Day. He was supposedly the patron saint of Ireland, although he was not Irish; he was born in Britain in 385, was brought to Ireland at age 16 as a slave, escaped 6 years later and became a priest. HOW DOES A PRIEST JUSTIFY RUNNING AWAY FROM HIS MASTER? DID HE PAY HIM BACK? Then he returned and turned the Irish into Christians. Legend has it he drove all the snakes out of Ireland. Biologists say there is no trace of snakes in Ireland! NICE. (But we know better, right? The Irish are not to be trusted.) St. Patrick died on March 17, 461 AD, and so they celebrate his death every year. The first St. Patrick's Day celebration in the United States (before the US declared independence!) was held in Boston in 1737. The first official parade in New York City took place March 17, 1762.
HERE’S WHERE IT GOES BAD: More than 250 years after the first NYC celebration (and more than 1550 years after St. Patrick died)... On September 4, 2014, the organizers of the New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade announced the first ever LGBT group to march in 2015 under their banner. It represents an end to a ban on shameless, radical homosexual groups in the parade. DISGUSTING.
Also, about that three-leafed clover, called a “shamrock” Legend has it St. Patrick used the shamrock to explain the concept of the so-called Holy Trinity (HE CATHOLIC?), by showing an unbeliever the three-leafed plant with one stalk. Shamrocks are the national flower/emblem of Ireland. HUH? THAT’S NOT A FLOWER! … A green leaf flower? What’s up with the four leaf clover? Is that when Eve wanted to be God?
(CNN) Cancellations due to the coronavirus outbreak keep piling up. The May SAT exam has been canceled, while NASCAR races and the Kentucky Derby have been postponed. Attorney General William Barr is asking federal prosecutors to crack down on fraudsters looking to cash in on the virus through fake cures and email scams. HA! President Trump announced official White House guidelines, which advise all Americans to avoid gatherings of 10 or more people and suggest older people stay home entirely. In California, 7 million residents have been ordered to shelter in place (the CA population is about 40M). As for when life might return to normal? "Could be July, could be longer than that," Trump said. The virus has now infected more than 182,000 worldwide, with more than 4,400 in the US, and killed about 7,100, including at least 87 in the US, supposedly.
(Drudge) San Francisco orders residents to stay inside… That’s the “shelter in place” order in 6 Bay Area counties. WHAT ARE THE HOMELESS BUMS SUPPOSED TO DO? AHA… People who are homeless are exempt from the order but encouraged to find shelter. Authorities want sheriffs and police chiefs to “ensure compliance,” but local authorities said they would not “rush to enforce” the directives as residents adjusted to understand what activities are no longer allowed. Violation of the orders is considered a misdemeanor punishable by a fine or jail time. Businesses that do not provide “essential” services must send workers home.
(Drudge) Kid Rock's Nashville Bar Refuses To Close, and Calls the Mandate 'Unconstitutional'... NICE! (PopCulture) The owner of Kid Rock's Big A** Honky Tonk Rock N' Roll Steakhouse in Nashville said he is refusing to follow Mayor John Cooper's plan to shut down all bars. The owner is a man named Steve Smith.
James goes home after this news break! Joel and Nick did the Black and Brown news segment at the end of Hour 2.
