Biden lame-o speech summary

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) Yesterday, President Biden outlined his foreign policy in a rare address to the nation — all about Israel and Ukraine, an “inflection point in history.” While Hamas and Putin represent “different threats… they both want to completely annihilate a neighboring democracy.” LORRRD… supporting Israel and Ukraine remains “vital for America’s national security.” OUSTING BIDEN IS VITAL… “conflict and chaos could spread in other parts of the world.” IT ALREADY HAS!

“when dictators don’t pay a price for their aggression…the threats to America and the world keep rising.” SO GET RID OF BIDEN LIBS! Putin's “appetite for power and control in Ukraine" could pose a threat to NATO members like Poland. “COULD!” SMH. "American leadership is what holds the world together." SO GET RID OF BIDEN!

… called on Congress to pass a budget request (over $100 billion — hopefully not, House of Representatives is at a standstill) — to send more aid to Israel and Ukraine — claimed without evidence it’ll “pay dividends for American security for generations.” … denounced antisemitism and Islamophobia (OTHER FAKE THINGS) … pushed for a two-state solution (his ilk’s why I don’t trust that line) …  “no higher priority” than the safety of “US citizens’” held hostage by Hamas.

Biden catching heat from progressive (communist) Democrats and people within his admin …

Middle East MESS

Protests against Israel’s siege of Gaza are expected across much of the Middle East today as humanitarian aid agencies warn hospitals are running out of fuel amid fears life-saving aid will be still stuck in Egypt for another day. “Without electricity, many patients will die,” a medical coordinator said.

  • Egypt and Israel agreed to allow 20 trucks of humanitarian aid to enter Gaza through the Rafah crossing. But that aid isn’t reportedly expected to be allowed in until Saturday, as roads still need repair.

  • Tensions continue to mount at the Israel-Lebanon border. Meanwhile, Israel’s defense minister told soldiers to “be ready” to invade Gaza.

Sidney Powell

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) Yesterday, the former Donald Trump campaign attorney Sidney Powell pleaded “guilty” (to a misdemeanor — they wayyy overcharged and knew it) in Georgia's 2020 election interference case (with Fulton County prosecutors). Sidney Powell is one of the 19 defendants who’s been charged and the second to plead guilty. She pushed “baseless” claims that the 2020 election was “stolen” from former President Trump and admitted she attempted to gain access to election equipment in one Georgia county. As part of a plea deal, Sidney Powell will now serve six years probation and pay a $6,000 fine after pleading guilty to racketeering, trespassing, and several “conspiracy” charges. She will also be required to testify in future trials…potentially including Trump’s. The deal comes a day before jury selection was set to start for her trial.

Biden put Americans at risk

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) The State Department on Thursday issued a worldwide alert advising all US citizens to “exercise increased caution” due to “increased tensions in various locations around the world, the potential for terrorist attacks, (and) demonstrations or violent actions against U.S. citizens and interests.” The issuance of the worldwide caution alert is a significant message amid protests that have erupted throughout the Middle East in response to the Israel-Hamas war. The State Department last issued a worldwide alert in August 2022 in the wake of the killing of al-Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, warning that “supporters of al-Qa’ida, or its affiliated terrorist organizations, may seek to attack U.S. facilities, personnel, or citizens.”

Assault weapons ban struck down!

(CNN not theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) QUOTE: “[The ruling] is a direct insult to every victim of a mass shooting and their families.” — California Gov. Gavin Newsom, issuing a statement Thursday after a federal judge overturned a decades-old commie California law banning assault weapons, calling the gun restriction “extreme” and unconstitutional. California Attorney General Rob Bonta has filed a notice of appeal, noting the ban is still in effect for the time being.

Mortgage interest rate

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) 7.63% is the average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage in the US, impacting affordability for many potential homebuyers. As surging interest rates and climbing prices stymie demand, home sales in the US dropped to a 13-year low in September, recent data shows.

Aw, nice liberal rich actors

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) George Clooney, Tyler Perry and other big stars are offering to pay millions more in union dues to help end the months-long actors’ strike. Sources say more than a dozen high-earning members proposed changes to SAG-AFTRA union leadership this week that included removing a $1 million cap on membership dues to help bridge a gap in contract negotiations with major studios. The changes would result in top earners contributing significantly more in membership fees each year that could bolster the union’s funding for health benefits. The proposal comes about a week after major Hollywood studios walked away from talks with the union.

LeBron James announces upcoming release of another children’s book

(CNN not theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) The picture book aims to “inspire the next generation of leaders to be all that they dream to be … and more,” the book’s executive editor said. (“I Am More Than” available on April 2, 2024, day after APRIL FOOLS. Four-time NBA champion collabs with illustrator Niña Mata again after their 2020 release, “I Promise.”

NOT READ: House drama

(CNN or theSkimm Fri. 10/10/23) The House. In the latest episode of ‘Lawmakers Gone Wild,’ the interim speaker, Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-NC), is reportedly threatening to quit. Republicans are reportedly trying to get McHenry to take on normal speaker powers (like intro legislation), while they deal with a looming government shutdown deadline and proposed aid regarding the Israel-Hamas war. But McHenry’s apparently not sure expanding his authority without a floor vote is even constitutional. In the meantime, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) pulled an UNO reverse card, saying he will pursue a third vote for House speaker. That’s after two rounds of trying to get the job — losing even more supporters the second time. It's unclear if Jordan will win over the 20 members that don’t want anything to do with him by the next vote — which was expected at 10 am ET today.
